9/14/12

Flew up after work and tried to stay away from the crowds.   Walked and saw a few fish moving around here and there.   Started to rain sideways and was so windy leaves were flying everywhere.  Started walking back to the car and the next  thing I know fish are everywhere.   It was about 6:30 so I fished in the pouring rain which let up towards the end.  From 6:30 to 7:30  must have been 200 fish go by me everywhere.  Managed 1 legit hook up  where the fly was swinging and then  line was stripping.   Had 2 other fish on.  1 I think was a hit, one was questionable ,  but there were just so many around they were just smacking into the line.  Did not land a single one but it was fun trying.

Twobob they are not trapped in dsr. I saw over a hundred fish all day sitting/running thru the upper ballpark, had a friend fishing further up by rt 81 and he had the same report. Also one guy check out elllis cove and he was seeing 10s and 20s going by there. Its a full river run.

Yeah that locked up statement can't be any further from the truth. They do run heavily at night which could mean no fish in this spot today, but the very next morning its loaded. There is alot of lightly treaded water between 2a and sportsmen hole. A previous report had them barreling through 2a right now. So my guess is there a few areas where school is in session if you know what I mean.

    Mr. bob,
when I meant all are trapped in the lower river I was paraphrasing as to a response to 3fan asking where the thousands were..
Obviously they can move un molested at night when there is no fishing going on so YES there will be fish throughout the entire river but it is very difficult for them to get above the lower river during the day..
Really it becomes a slaughter when there is low water, warm river temps and hoards of people "cutting them off" from the beginning..
The state realizes this and took action as posted, sadly it's the little action they can take..
I guarantee you one thing however, the estuary is full of floaters.
I myself have not been there in a week (lake) I do have other friends who are on the river daily and get updated..

Just be realistic and put things in perspective, it don't take a genius or P.H.D to figure out what is happening on the river now, just common sense..
You can take what I type as insight or leave it as gibberish, thats your choice..

Have a good day to all

Thanks for the report, Clint.  Sounds like major fun. I'd be happy with some hook-ups. Going to go pretty soon. I just blow off the  arguments and sniping and look for the actual fish reports.  The real reports besides yours and a few others, are coming in PM's. Thanks guys, got my heart rate up.
