THEYRE HERE PART 2

Well today I managed to get out on the DSR for about 2 and a half hours and probably had about 2000 fish swim by me in that time. And they are still coming from all the way down low... Get your rods and reels boys because they're here ... Not by the hundreds...by the thousands.... and they are big hard fighting aggressive fish... within the 2 and a half hours I fished I watched the changeover from 2 different types of fish... just before closing. time a massivelot amount of bright silver pink bellied bastards came splashing through.... thousand's...

CLINT, I LEFT YOU A VOICEMAIL...SHAME YOU DIDNT GET IT...

Oh the smell of fresh dead salmon in the air...
Can low warm water and increasing temps handle such a run ?

My thoughts , the lfz will remain closed until further notice..

Dime thanks for thinking of me,  my phone took an unfortunate fall a few days ago and is out of commission .   Could not have got out anyway, work is too tight.   Maybe Wednesday I can get out after work.

just my luck.
all reports are fish everywhere and  i had to let an employee go today because she couldn't figure out when she was supposed to work.
now i'm stuck with an extra eight hours tomorrow followed by back to back twelve hour shifts.

Tuna, i think it can...there are plenty of fish in altmar already...even above the rt. 52 bridge.no reason why these fish cant make it...heck even if a thousand fish die theres stil another 9 thousand coming behind em..i agree with your thought on the zones though...wouldnt mind seeing them close if the waters low...

Could've guaranteed this run was gonna happen, being I was there Sunday and not much action. Im always a day late or a day early. Well let's see how long it takes before we are knee deep in rotting fish

If the water drops to 100 cfs maybe...otherwise i think plenty will get up to altmar...

No way of getting around a drought year. There are reservoirs all over the tristate and northeast that have grass growing in the middle of them...we just have to accept it at this point... im quite appreciative of what mother nature can do on her own. Of course there is going to be a mortality rate as there always is in a run of salmon...some more than others...at this point im just waiting to get back out on the water this afternoon...i may even meet up with our very own "troutbum"... catch you guys later

I would n't mind if they close the whole river if the water is low.....that's my thought on it.

I dont think there is enough 02 in the water for a masses of fish population at this time.
Db : with few fish , yes but with so many looking for the 02 , I think it will get very smelly

P.S.
Jack your on the right track but if they truly want to balance the conservation side with the economic , the river would shut down from the mouth to pineville or so.
That would ensure most fish would at least be in the upper sections .
Best chance for a return at the hatchery . Of course that would never happen

 Agree with Tuna--
Many will  certainly die  in this water.
Lots  will also be picked off well before they reach 81. With an unusual number of low River Fishermen  after a 3 fish limit in these low  conditions - it is inevitable- perhaps  fortunate. At least they wont  be wasted.
It is- after all is said and done-  a put and take system, even though many here  rarely take.
One can  hope  a few days spreads them out as their numbers thin   providing a better chance of  completing their task.

I dont think you guys realize how many fish came in and are still coming...probably about 4 miles long of thickness...

It is what it is...and by the way, very few clipped adipose fins i noticed yesterday...gonna keep a closer eye this afternoon...

Next tuesday i think we're gonna be seeing the cohoes

Could be Dime,I think med river must be holding a lot of fish right now, being that the fishing pressure is low, and a lot of fish blew by me,low water warm water doesn't seem to matter their on the move in force.

come on guys.
when i went back to last years posts there were pics everywhere.
has the site changed making it harder to post pics?

reading has gotten my blood pounding but some pics will have me salivating like a dog watching you put food in his dish before i get up this next week.
and i will be there this week.
i have two vacation days so no work problems will keep me away this time.
i will have to take pics with a crappy dig cam and wait to get them on my computer but i will post some if i figure out how to catch them.

Fish were still in force in lower dsr right up until closing. Managed to meet our very own troutbum over a beeer last night. Great guy!!! He had nothing but grins and giggles to say regarding what he saw.

It is what ut is at this point...and most i have seen along with a few other folks have mostly all been wild fish with no fin clip...no one forced these fish to run except mother nature. I really dont see why its s bad thing. I think its pretty fukkin awesome...and quite a few people whove been around for quite some time are almost inclined to say it's the largest run theyve ever seen.

One odd thing going on is the wild females are packed with eggs, with one skein being large bulging eggs and the other being dwarfed eggs. Maybe lucky 13 can chime in on this 1
