which to buy?

which to buy?

Question for walleye fisherman & occassional perch jerkers, if your looking to get a chip for your Lowrance or Humminbird unit, what chip would you buy? I have a HB 1198c and want something like a Navionics Platinum+ or something showing great detail but do not know anyone with a chip or seen one in action and which chip they have for coverage area. Ideal is the Erie area but Lake Ontario & Lower Niagara will be hit as well.
Just looking for opinions for those that have a chip or had.

    I am not sure if this will help you or not, but I bought the Lowrance Elite 5 dsi and it came with a free Navionics Gold chip. I was highly disapointed with the chip. The basemap, in my opinion, shows much better details for Lake Erie and Ontario. I am not sure of the difference in the Gold and the Platinum chips.

    yea I'd like to see them work in person, says Gander Mtn is the closest dealer and I am not sure if they do stock them but I'd say finding someone with knowledge there of the product is a different story. I like the Platinum+ looks.
