PERCH THIS WEEK

Took the new boat out for first time Sunday.  It did good, we picked up one nice walleye in 53 ft. orange worm harness . did more messin with the boat than fishing.   going to try and head out thursday.  Any info on where to find the perch and eyes?  and what they are biteing?

thanks
Adam

I would stick in that depth you caught your eye.  Not been doing much Perch Jerking so I can't help you there.
Reef Runners and Tail Dancers almost any color have been doing the the job for me on 5 colors of  LC.

Good Luck with your new boat!

Find the perch pack straight out of walnut, or look for the big red boat near the point.  Walleye seem to be everywhere right now. Run straight out til you hit around 55' or deeper and look for marks.  My screen has been lit up with marks around 40-45' down.  Reef runners and spoons are working fine right now so I havent been messing around with harnesses.

Ive been running 1.5-1.7 when using inline weights and worm harnesses.  And 2.0-3.2 when running plugs and spoons.  I wouldnt waste two line on a rigger...they have taken a couple fish for me lately but its moslty dispys and board lines that are on fire. If you must run riggers I usually have luck running a deep diver back 40 or 50' then run the rigger ball well above your marks so the balls spook the fish less.   If you are unsure with perch go walleye fishing first...watch your graph while trolling for schools of perch on the bottom, mark them on the gps then come back to those marks and perch fish when you are done walleye fishing.    Straight out of walnut and the point are just the two most popular spots for perch but they can be caught anywhere.  I had some huge schools of perch on my graph in 78' off Elk 2 weeks ago....

whether you go out of Walnut, Lampe, East Ave. or Northeast the key to limiting on perch is MOVE. Drop anchor and if you're not into 'em in 20 to 30 minutes(I actually only give it 15 mins.), move and move again till you find 'em. Sometimes its only a matter of 100 yards or so. That school is huge out there! I've been out a good 2 dozen times since the end of May, and except for the first time out, have limited every time. I'm constantly setting and deleting way points on my fish finder. As the perch go, so go my waypoints.
