So I went to Oswego today and it was a bust. Here is the report. There is NO access on the East side of the river due to the Leto/lock bridge being shut down. I supposed you could have squeezed through the barricade, but there were workers there and it was not worth it. Today you also could have crossed the river up by the dam and walked down ot the lock, ect, but my luck as soon as I got across the siren would have sounded and it was not worth it. I fished up by the dam down and down a bit with the fly rod. Even tried the ledge behind the post office with a float and some eggs as well as way down behind the hotels. Nothing, nada, zip. I was the only person I could see fishing the river.
I then went to the UFZ more to scope it out than fish as I have never been there before. Saw 2 nice fish on at the hole up from the upper parking area. There were alot of people there. I walked down quite a bit casting here and there with no success. Decided to leave there as I knew the LFZ was pretty empty. My only ???? here would be where to cross the river to fish the other bank of the hole. Water was pretty fast today at 285 anything higher would be suicide trying to cross.
Went to LFZ and from Church hole down 4 people spread waaaay out. Fished for about 3.5 hours with 1 quick roll and that was it. Saw 1 fish taken at the hole. There were plenty of fish there as I saw a few swim right past me so close I could have touched them with my rod. Just were not biting. I also saw at least 6 pairs spawning in various low water spots on the walk up and back as well as a few pairs where I was fishing. Other than getting caught in a torrential downpour that went from ice balls to rain and back for 10 minutes it was an OK day. I got wet so I called it a day. I may have enough left in the tank for 1 more time.
