Clint,I bet those two that HT tied for the swap will work. Also a simple tie that works is a red deer tail, pink chinelle body and white marabou for wings, use red or black thread.I dead drift it then let it swing at the end.

Skykomish, Thor, Babine special are all good eggy looking west coast wets, like the skunks, 6 to 10 2x long or salmon hooks. Cardinelle is a great streamer (yellow hackle fiber tail, Fluorescent Orange Chenille body, Yellow hackle throat, and Cerise or Magenta Maribou wing back to tail, orange thread, tied on a 6x long streamer hook.) Works on brookies in smaller sizes as well. L13

Clint , the one flashy is called Salmon River Smolt.. For good reason.. I landed 1 and lost 2 others last trip.. It really should be in play right now but it's a pattern to , well Salmon Smolts.. Even though the temp season might be ahead of things, the smolts are still on schedule.. Keep that fly in your rotation for sure.. The other I tied , I have no Idea ? I coppied it from a swap I did long ago and it worked pretty sweet .. I'm sure it has a proper name but I just dug the results.. If you want a mind spinning array of patterns and many developed from the SR then check this place out.. http://www.angelfire.com/wa/salmonid/flytext.html Beware though, you may end up with more then you'll know what to do with.. Really try to focus on presentation and being confidante in what you are using instead of a box full of flies..

Thanks guys that is really what I needed. Tuna the page is alot to digest. I get what you mean about a box full of flies, I may just pick a few and try them. Your talking the red and white flashy one right for the smolt right. I am thinking Of going with some bucktail/ Micky Finn types like I tied above in various colors. I did use yours as kind of a template for mine. some skunk types in various colors some smolt types like the red and white one and maybe like this one http://www.west-fly-fishing.com/fly-pattern-recipe/wet/bluesmolt.shtml They all seem like fairly easy ties Thanks again everyone for the tips for and helping Clint

Clint, Save yourself some time with that blue one and just do a mylar body, flashabou underwing, bucktail over the top. Put a little red at the throat though, like in the pattern. Same thing with pink and olive bucktail with brown over the top is the old Oak Orchard baby rainbow, ala the late great Mark Stoddard (maybe simplified from Mark's beasutiful tie) Same thing wing Chartruese is WB's great emerald shiner. All are killer! I may see you on the river tomorrow, I'll be the one watching because 1600 and hip boots may not mix! L13

1600 is alot I may wait until sunday and see if it comes down (SU plays at noon too so that impacts me too). There were worms everywhere this AM. I may just try a crawler under a bobber in a few spots. I was looking at sunset now and if I fly home from work 2 hours are in so a few days after work next week are going to happen.

Nice.. The streamer on a swing down stream should be the ticket too.. Worms on a bobber.. I love it.. Just ribbin L-13.. work detail at the house all weekend and will sneak away in yak or canoe.. humm.. Scout stripers, smallies or Crappies and perch with a worm & bobber.. Me like that idea..

Clint, your post inspired me to tie a couple of streamers. Thank you. If I get the time i'll post them up but its a very busy weekend for me....my sons 5th birthday... With those worms, don't be afraid to bounce them with out a bobbers;) Streamers on a down stream swing: awesome way to catch fish. Probably the most exciting. If you have the room, it pays to cast on an upstream angle and do a series of mends so your fly is deep while it begins to swing down stream. 1600 cfs: there are a lot of spots where you can fish right in near the bank without getting your feet wet. Fishing after work: man im still jealous :) Good luck guys and go get em
