Drilling into fiberglass???

Im going to install my antenna and other items into the fiberglass of my boat. What type of screw is recommended to hold the best? I have no access to the underneath.

    I would use a toggles if you do not have access, and some 5200. The ideal instalation would be through bolt with backing plate and 5200

    Drill the holes somewhat smaller than the mounting screws, apply some 3M adhesive/sealant to the threads and your done. Just make sure the drilled holes are small enough so the threads bite into the glass material. Use stainless steel screws. Tighten the screws firmly and you're ready to go. The 3M sealant is available at Wal-Mart. DuPont

    Two ways just presented. Both good. Thru bolting is superior to using screws if you have access. If you use the screw method, be very careful about hole size. Too small and you'll damage (excess cracking) the gel coat, too big and you lose holding power..

    Since you're above waterline, 5200 is not necessary. Silicone is fine..

    Also, if you opt for 5200, keep it in the fridge after you open it, it'll keep longer. That stuff ain't cheap!

    Instead of drilling holes, would a rail mount be an option?
