Trolling plates

Wondered if anyone ever used a johnson marine trolling plate and how good they work bent my other plate last year forgot to raise it the johnson one is spring loaded and goes up automatically wondered how well they slowed a boat down thanks

    Can't help you with the trolling plate..

    I have a style similar to this http://www.ebay.com/itm/2012-Large-Trolling-Plate-Black-Powder-Coated-Hole-/380414928123?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item58927f24fb that works well. i can get my merc 140 down to about 1.2 or so and have no problems at WOT. the prop wash pushes it up out of the way, and it springs down when you stop or slow. dont have any problems in reverse either, with the hole in it. The only thing i did notice is, that the speed surges sometimes because the plate pushes up when your going into big rollers.

    Plates are a pain and like stated they bend or break. Trolling bags are the way to go amish outfitters beefy bags are the best but big papa sports makes a nice reasonably priced bag as well.

    Mine are the best..
    Mine don't mildew or mold. Mine are 100% made in the USA too.

    I love cats. I just can't eat a whole one..
