Yep...it's pretty much directional. The entrance to the NY side (east side, dam side) is right on the NY line, hence NY side. BTW fished it yesterday. Tons of dink perch, dink gills, and some 7-10" anorexic crappie. I can't wait until other lakes freeze up. ORIGINAL: HCsteel ORIGINAL: fishinpreacher Fished Eaton yesterday lost both a big bass and a big pike on PA side in AM. Moved to NY side in afternoon got into a few nice Crappie and a jumbo perch. Ice was 4-6 in. Glad it looks like fishable ice is finally here. I am pretty sure the whole lake/reservoir is in PA, unless you were just distinguishing sides as directions (west, east).

Eaton wasn't bad to us last weekend. first time there and we put a lot of big gills and 10 - 12" crappie on the ice. Took home 25 keepers. Might come back up this weekend. Hopefully our luck holds out.

Awesome, thanks pinner. we'll be there early saturday. I've heard different opinions about which side of the lake is best. We fished the dam side last weekend. What's everyones vote for the best side of lake to fish.

Last week we used shiners and didn't get a single pike to hit. On the way out we talked to guy who said they won't bite anything but fatheads. Any truth to this?

In fact I don't like fatheads on Eaton. Medium to large goldens, or dink perch work fine. In a pinch I used to put a medium emerald on each tine of a large treble. The problem is there has been such a bloom of tiny perch and gills that the pike aren't as aggressive as they used to be. They're still there though. My buddy caught a few the other day.

I use Dink perch or small gills on my tip ups. Don't even need to waste $ on buying big bait. I do better on pannies there with grubs or waxies. And if ya can't get a Dink perch out there ya got some issues. . . .

ORIGINAL: NeFiShNeTiMe Anybody check Eaton today?? Yep just got back...shore ice is sketchy in spots, but main ice was 4"+ everywhere I checked. They got several inches of snow which covered up old holes...some of those holes are 14+" and it's still above freezing. Use your head if you're going out. I may hit it in the a.m. I went solo tonight...well sort of. Just me and Sigmund Baron von Grau. He's not much of a mush dog I discovered. I met fishinvic and his buddy tonight...nice guy and it turns out we're nearly neighbors...small world. Numbers of crappie were good tonight, but no real hogs. All fish were returned to grow some shoulders.

Lake pleasant ice sucks. Shore ice is weak. Solid but slush on top then a couple inches of white ice then couple clear then like inch of slush on bottom. Did manage a few trout. Eaton ice is still good 5-6 inch. Pulled a couple nice gills and a few crappie. .

Thanks It's not bad yet, but was getting there last night when we left. We lost a lot of ice the last two days. We need a nice cold night or two to get the slush tightened back up into white ice. Hopefully someone will be up there before the weekend to give you an update before you make the hike.
