It really doesnt hurt to ask. The more opinions the better. Better safe than sorry. As a matter of fact, im think of trying one of these two spots tomorrow and I was also wondering if they were safe and giving up any fish?? Anyone know?

No it does not but when questions have been already answered then what ? I gave specific info on locations, thickness and species without so much as a response.. Sorry tough day for me and dont mean to be on the rag but man..

For your info . Most all lakes Big & Small in the ADK's are now being fished.. Lots of them have ATV's roaming around also.. That should be a good indication..

Are they giving up fish ? Depends.. We have been catching some..

The adks are also 700 miles from me and these lakes are 15. That's quite a difference. Sorry if I wasted your time we are heading up that way in a coupe of weeks.

Man 700 miles and your looking for Ice ? You must be WAY south..
I guess then I'm more wasting your time ..

There are great places to fish in the ADK's , ice or open, great lodging as well..
The artic air is moving south , how long ? But enjoy it while it's cold
Today was just a bad day for me as it was home work instead of fishing..

Hope some day you make the trip..

was at Lake Pleasent a couple of days ago it was iced over don't think there was more than 1 or 2 inches of ice and now probably a foot or more of snow as well.

Lake LeBoeuf was the same as of today, ice over but alot of snow. Didn't see anyone on either lake.

Adirondack mountains, in upstate new york. 5.5-6 hrs from erie.
I stopped by pleasant and leboeuf today too. didn't try to walk out on lebouef, but did try at pleasant. I didn't have my boots on so i managed to get some wet feet trying to get to solid ice, which i never did find. i did take a few steps out though. a friend at work told me the lake was still iced after the warm and rain, except for about 3' on the shoreline. maybe i just didn't make it out far enough.

geesh.. I just don't understand people.  what's 700 miles these days?  I mean, come on....  lazy.  He said he gave you all the inside info, and you just want to fish lakes in your own state?  come on, man!  I mean, it's not like there's a NY section of the forums or anything...

Eaton ice is fishable. Fished it today. I would still advise caution. Or you can just drive to the ADKs if youre not to LAZY!

it is absolutely beautiful. I traveled thru there in the early 70's and would love to return.  My brother and I want to visit there again. We've talk about it the last
couple of years, but talking is not going to get us there.

I've traveled to Black Lake on years that we've been "ice challenged".  The nice thing about NY state is they don't have the draconian ATV/snowmobile laws on the ice.  That's one of the reasons I like fishing Chautauqua.

Ice at Eaton was 6" off pa side launch some was slushey by pump house but straight off launch was pretty good. I didn't go to NY side. About 3-6" of snow on top when I got there 2-4 when I left. I had my big shanty out there n I was fine.

    sorry folks.. maybe there is
an Eaton , Pleasent & Waterford in Flordia for all I know.. But those names ring a bell here in Northern NY.. The conditions I gave from those areas and East to Lake George are all good.. Been fishing on plenty Solid ice for weeks.. The larger, speculator areas a little shorter.. Now granted It's not the normal, just walk where ever, Use caution arond flows thats all..

Well below ZERO again last night..

Drive 700 miles ? yea I'm to Lazy for sure on that no doubt !
Here is a Web cam From Lake Pleasant , NY

My bad its not 700 miles its 874 miles from Erie pa to loon lake round trip according to Google also says it is 7+ hours driving. If I'm wrong let me know but that is what I searched. That's 220 for gas if I don't bring my snowmobile. Anybody up for splitting gas bill? I would love to go sit up there n be lazy!!!! All I asked for was some info not for a guide service. Thanks tho. . . .
