Tamarack Ice report
Checked the south end today.. someone was ahead of me drilling holes.. The cove at the outlet has 4 in. of ice Half white and half black.. AND WEAK.. Bounced quite a bit when walkin on it.. Also went to the H-pier, and the new black ice was 2 in. at best... didn't drive over to Springs rd. access Would guess it's 2 in. also.. Just wanted to give a report before any snow comes and covers what you could see from shore.. I'll probably give it a try after the cold comes back and stiffens up the 4 in I measured today.. NW/

nw/jig Good to hear your report.
Looks like the week of the 15th. will start it up.
Too bad there's nothing but dink gills & crappies in there.
There are Bass and Muskies but their not worth eating.

nw/jig...Now you know there are only a few Perch in that lake like BAY PERCH. You caught all them biggens last year and those littlens haven't growed up yet.  I'll have to check it out Saturday afternoon. Conneaught Lake should be ready soon also. Stay safe...

Conneaute lake won't be ready anytime soon. Only about 200yd by 50yd chunk of skim ice floating loose on the south end. There is almost no ice on it at all.
The worst day hunting or fishing will always be better then the best day at school or work!

Yep know that... China-mart closest at 11 miles one way.. 54 miles round trip to espye just for minnows..  Always have a LARGE Tank in the garage.. and good air-e-ator, to recycle minnows...  Still LOVE-IT THOUGH.... ICE REPORT : Didn't make it out to check taday..sorry all.. Worked on g.p.s gagets..  NW/

4 3/4 " Thats what I measured in my holes with a tape.. Didn't venture close to the newer ice today..The old ice we were on was HARD.. 3 of us fished it for a couple hours, crappies and perch.. that was about the extent of it.. maybe tomorrow if not too much snow..NW/

Checked the ice today.. The cove at Cochn. end averaged 3.5 " Checked north of there a couple of lots and 3 " black with a skim of white on top.. Springs rd. Several open spirngs showing.. 3.5 " Meadv. dam 2.5--3.5 NW/

Fished off the cochn. parking lot in 9.5 F.O.W. approx. 1 hr. Never saw a fish on the Marcum..?? Should have some stiffer ice tomorrow.. Found a huge open water area within the bottle=neck on the north-end of the lake.. http://watershed.allegheny.edu/fcwrp/lakes/tamarack-page.html

Fished within 10yrds. of where I was yesterday.. Caught 3 crapps. and 3 perch missed a couple more..Ice meas. 4.5" and firm.. There were several ppl. out off the H-Pier north of me.. Don't know how they did ?? Guess you would have to ask the fish warden if they did any good , since he was watchin them all mornin from the barn...Met a couple LURKERS as I was leavin.. good luck to them... NW/

Fished there again yesterday with drills4gills.. also met paramedicjake there.. Tried several spots on the lake.. Ventured clear across the lake.. found brush pile , but had fish-cam runnin for 2 hrs. and never saw a fish ??? Came back to center lake Caught Mixed bag--- Crappies, perch, gills, large mouth, Even had 1 break me at the hole...13--14 in. Crappie...... Had a great day even if i was rainin.. NW/

Gunna try again in the A.M. if the ice feels safe.. Shore-ice was hardly affected last warm up..Curious to know how the thickness managed..?? Sure was some wild looking ice last time walkin off..  Guess we'll see come morning...To all STAY SAFE, AND CATCH SUM.. NW/

WAS THERE ALL WEEKEND...Caught numerous fish.. Lost a couple on a large cicada..( glow and green ) Gunna try a night-run Heard them ppl. night fishin have been dooing pretty good at night..Guess I better take sum dinner with me for the Haibachi Lantern,, NW/

Went-out this A.M. at the same place .. Caught a mixed, but small bag-o-fish again.. nothing spectacular.. Ice was still 5 in. and strong yet.. Not sure for how much longer with this FLORIDIAN WINTER... COME ON COLD!!! NW/

jiggers bait and tackle on georgetown road has live bait ! from franklin , up the rt 8 hill to top at old uni-mart and turn right onto rt 62 toward polk. go about 1 mile and you see georgetown rd on your right . Turn right and go about 1-1/2 miles on right. 437-6987 call em !
