Shareing

Was just reading the other forum and came  across a post  where a shore guy is complaining bout a guide stopping and fishing "his' spot for a while- apparently led to an argument.  Rudeness being his point- I guess.
Brings up some stuff that we all read from time to time here as well- its all fishing on the same sometimes crowded River and the considerations we all have to afford each other while there. NOT just boat guys either.
In Shark season we sometimes have to be satisfied with guys lined up a few feet apart and even then a boat will pass through the crowds from time to time along with herders and slashers all around.
In August or after the Sharks leave we can then find solitude on occasion and our' comfort zone' can get a lot bigger. We must still remember that those in the boats are coming through and we are all basically doing the same thing in different ways. Often in the more popular holes too.
Late this November  was well above the Tressel and had just released a decent Steelhead and was about to fish the same thread again. A boat came down and  showed the Guide where   had just hooked up and let him have the run. Then sat back to enjoy the show. It had been very slow and I had the enjoyment of a hookup- why not let those two fishermen/clients too.
It aint bout numbers but the quality of the experience that counts- too many guys seem to forget that.
We all gotta share a very popular and sometimes over fished put and take kinda fishery so a little bit of 'oh well' gotta be in order or you may just go nuts.

I have to agree to your post.  Being a newbie I often like to fish around folks because   A)  I can watch their technique  B)  I get to learn the spots and how to read the water.  If I see guys fishing there catching fish I take note of the water and know what to look for and C)  Often times when you fish next to someone you strike up a conversation and learn a thing or two.    I had a guy this AM ask if he could slip in about 50 feet away or so .   I said sure.  The only problems I have are when someone piles on right next to you and floats across your drift without even trying to time his cast with yours so both of us can get good drifts.   I do think I would also have an issue with a boat pulling up right across from me limiting my casts and drifts, but again it's about courtesy not about sharing the space.   A simple "mind if I pull up" and sharing the space, not coming in and "taking it over"  would be fine by me.

I have heard during many times of the year  90% of the fish are in 20% of the river so we all have to share.

i keep hearing the term "we should all share the water" i agree. what sometimes confuses me is who is "all". i don't discriminate between boats and shore anglers imo a idiot is a idiot! last year i went to a spot that has produced well over the years for me.there were people in the hole so i went on my way.the next am i got there early waited for the sun to join me.i had a few fish in the first two hours then i coulden't believe it when aboat came down i pulled in to let him pass then he dropped his anchor ten feet upstream and started running floats right in front of me!not a word from except to b me out for casting over his lines. no tangles,i can time my drifts.not included in "all"! the same thing happened in the lower river last month a bank angler across the river watced my drift a few times waited for my drift to pass them waded into the middle of the hole. again not included. i dont mind sharing but have issues with people just taking it.i also agree with fishing around others i have fished the river for thirty years now and learn something almost every trip i just don't wamt them sharing my waders.
