Winter Solstice

Things are lookin up - longer daylight hours are on the way.

Strange year - incredibly warm December compared to last year.

Here is a shot of home waters last year bout this time:

[/img]

This morning da river is flowing at a good rate and not a hint of snow or ice to be seen. I really gotta try to get out fishing instead of walkin around the woods tryin to kill stuff. Winter nymphing for trout, or follow up on some tips for the hot Walleye spots in the Susquehanna River - the boyz are hammering them from shore with bucktail jigs tipped with chartruese curly tails.

Just watched the weather guy on the boobtube - Pacific Jet Stream will keep the Artic Air away from Pennsyltucky through next week - forecast highs in the 40's till New Year.
Presently my outside thermometer reads 43deg!!

I was hoping for a blizzard in the near future. I like blizzards, love driving in blizzards as long as I'm off the interstate, blizzards slow life down to a snail pace.

Awhile back I was planning on a few days fishing the SR between Xmas & New Years, but I decided to hold off until I can plow my fat arse through snow drifts. Hope it happens in the near future.

so in the meantime - keep the reports coming Clint & Fichy..

oh well, time to take the gun for a walk and sniff yote scat in da woods.

later

Drake that looks like a slightly larger version of my home water, the Battenkill. It's got a year round section I fished in the winter, jumping off ice shelves,  for 20 years. The fishery declined and made catching pretty sparse, so I kinda quit....I suppose if I'm gonna freeze, I might as well have a shot at a real drag screamer on the SR.
I'm popping in some windows in my own house today. Cheap bas.... like me can even tolerate the heat loss in this kind of weather.   Ice fishing prospects  look pretty dismal.  If I was out towards the Susky the 'eyes would have it.

Will be out west next week fishing those Pennsy ditches that you love Drake,I really like that long range forecast 'cause I won't need my heavy neos and Rainx :)Was thinking of trying the Ohio tribs but it looks like they will be high and muddy, the ditches clear quickly.
