Done for weekend
Well no fishing for me today or tomorrow. My car died in williamstown and I have to get it home tomorrow. Went up tonight to tow it but there is nothing to hook onto under there. Will get a tow truck tomorrow and see what happens. I put my code reader on it and it seems the Crankshaft sensor has went bye bye. Although I could do it myself, just gonna let the garage fix it as they already have to tow it. I also have to get my garage clean and work on the farm tractor. A bolt came free punching a hole in the transfer case as well as taking out the pinion bearing, fun stuff.

Sounds like some serious life there clint. Lol....hey, its sounds like you have experience with heavy equipment mechanics; that's some valuable knowledge to have. I have a few toys myself and im dreading the day that something big happens to either of them that involves serious trouble shooting....

Ah yes beautiful downtown Willietown! dada dum dum dum dum dum dum dum (banjo). If a married couple from Willietown gets a divorce, are they still legally cousins? All kidding aside, a lot of nice folks, the gateway to the southern Tug Hill, and some pretty good public access fishing spots on the headwaters of Fish Creek. Good luck with the mechanics, but you should do well being from up around there, and far enough away from Pulaski so encountering honest hard working people who aren't watching for the out of state plates for pocket lining. Yea, have alot of family from Billytown luckily my wife is from Altmar. Me and my buddy were up looking at tractors this PM, both of us forgot our phones. It's funny, when the car quit I looked at my watch and said I bet my dads at the bar. He goes up around 4 for dinner and a few drinks. Sure enough he was there, but there is nothing like a 2 mile walk in 25 degree temps to get the blood pumping. 99 percent sure it is the crankshaft sensor and since I have to get it towed, just going to have them do it and be done with it. Even though I have the skills to do it sometimes it is better to let the pro's do it. As I get older the thought of crawling under a car with rust and salt falling on my face is worth the $100 they will charge to do it. EDIT UGH Just read the service manual and you have to take the lower timing cover off to change the sensor 2 to 3 hours. That with the tow and the part may be close to $400. Now it's time to decide if I want to deal with it or not. I should have changed it when I did the timing belt last year. That was a 2 evening job. Still may be worth the $200 to not have to mess with it. Tight lines all Clint

Sorry to hear bout your transport malfunctions Clint. Metal - at least the barmaids at the Billytown Bar are good looking and have all their teef... Good place to party with the snowsledders... Definitely a step-above the Poooolaski bars... later d00d p.s. - got bambi #2 hangin in the shed. Whacked it yesterday at 3:45pm - with less than 2 hours left in the season. Might be a bit tough skinning/choppin today - that sucka needs to be warmed up from the balmy 18deg showing on my outside thermometer.

Drake it depends on which one you go to if they have teef. It's about 50/50 out of the 4 places. It is a very good place for snowmobiling with a trail to each bar, good food too. Quite jealous about the deer, but I spent all my time fishing this fall. We will be sending a cow off soon so my freezer will be full of lean cut beef, raised the right way.

4 bars???? Obviously you know the town better than me.. The only bar I ventured is on the right hand side of Rte 13 - next to the gas station - pretty big place inside.. Good Times - love the "smokin room" where the true-blue miscreants hang... also got to see one of NY's finest musicians play a concert there: BENNY MARDONES

Old Benny, I have seen him a few times. Just for your info in order most teef there is: Buck's, the one you went to formally the Town House the "highest class" place in town" , Kasoag lake inn is outside of town about a mile, the American Legion and Vanessa's. It is on the other side of the gas station, that was the place my dad was at. More of the down to earth locals there if you can get over the old store, converted to house, converted to bar look. The gossip of the day was how the bartenders 230lb teen daughter got with 2 or 3 boy's a few nights ago. YES they were cousins

It's inside the town limits. I went to school with Tammy (she was a year or 2 ahead), but I have have not been up to Kasoag in a fair bit to know if she is still there. Sold the sled 2 years ago and got an ATV and have not really missed it

First time went to kasoag was because of tammys referral when she worked at the Altmar; she claimed it was the type of place where chairs got smashed on a nightly basis...I've honestly never seen or heard any trouble over there myself though; its a fun stop for me... their wings are pretty signature too.... although I haven't had them in a while....don't know if Tammy still works there; maybe saw her there 2 or more years ago...

Not even Tammy would give a referral to the meth shack you love so much. Whats its name again. I think it got a rave review from a member here. Said he ended up at McDonalds instead.

Well I got the car towed to the shop and I am going to have them fix it, I do not want to frig around with it. Worked on the tractor today. The rear tires weigh about 500# and had to use the engine crane to get them off. Also had to use the crane to lift get the axles out. I got the wrecked pinion bearing out of the rear of the tractor and reassembled the rear end. That's enough for one day. Now it's back to work tomorrow, vacations over. Not many day's off for a long while. My buddy stopped by to help and he said he hit the wires today said he saw a few guys hook up.

There's a few guys in my area that do mobile tractor tire repair. You don't want to mess with them. Those calcium filled can crush ya. Good mechanical luck, Clint. Hope you get out and fish once in awhile, I'll miss the reports. Charlie

Got the bad new today of about $550 to fix the car. That is including the tow and parts so really about $300 out of my pocket. Have to take the timing belt off to get at the sensor. Thing is I just replaced the timing belt last year and held that SOB sensor in my hand and said "I should replace this" Although I have the skills to fix it, it's easier to let the mechanic do it and get done quicker. Lucky we have 3 cars and that is our paid for beater, so no major headaches on transportation to work. I plan on going out a few times this winter if it's not too cold, just need to learn the cold water spot's (I have a few in mind) and hitting it in the spring again. I asked the wife for Under armor for x mas to get me ready. Also plan on some ice fishing too. Even though this is the Salmon river board I will post on my ice fishing adventures too.

Clint sounds good man.... id say most around here look forward to hearing and seeing any type of fish or fishing from the region... looking forward to your upcoming posts. For winter lies : just fish man; you seem to have the capabilities to figure it out.. Ps: some fish will still transition so don't be afraid to fish flat riffles below tailouts or above heads of pools...especially on warmer or sunny days... they will look for nymphs and other naturals in water like this...good luck...

Already got the stuff to tie some stones and some caddis. Just waiting for Mr Claus to bring my my new fly vice and tools. I am sick of tying with vice grips clamped to my desk.

Well $700 for the car repair including the tow. Timing belt broke, just replaced that SOB last year. Came out lucky on this one as it is an interference engine and usually when the belt goes it takes the head with it. Now continue with the tractor. Fishing this weekend barring disaster.

$700 - OUCH Consider yourself lucky - those interference engines are ticking time bombs that rely on a freakin rubber band timimg belt. Most times when they go boom the bill = thousands... Glad to hear you got her put back together Clint..
