In regards to the ANF, I have spent quite a bit of time in the area camping and fishing over the last 15 years.  While I may not be exactly an expert on the area, it is quite evident that the primary controlling factor limiting the deer population is a lack of quality habitat for most of the ANF.

Sunlight, sunlight and more sunlight to the forest floor would do the area some good.  There is an easy way to accomplish that as well

And the last I heard, the courts found no evidence that they were not doing it appropriately.


They also didnt find any evidence that they were.

They aren't trying to "pass" anything on, because THEY are not saying too many deer are being harvested.


And because of the extremism that exists within the agency, and the obtuse agendas in play, they never will. And therein lies the problem.

at some point if left alone and free roaming many of his cows are going to leave that farmers 500 acres and go somewhere else to find food..rather than stay there and die... animals are not that dumb ...


Do you think deer will stay where they can not find enough food to be healthy and re-produce..


The ANF was allowed to get way too many deer in the herd... many moved out


You need to do more time thinking and less time typing. The deer were finding enough food to be healthy and reproduce. The deer did not move out. They were happy where they were. That is why the PGC held special seasons and issued more tags and started issuing DMAP tags. The PGC promoted killing the additional deer on the ANF because they were fat and happy and were staying there. They would not have the low numbers there except the PGC made a well publicised, concerted effort, to reduce their numbers. And it worked.

They moved out alright. lol. Those doe tags were like one way airline tickets from the forest to kitchen tables. lol

They didn't rule on that, only that it was the PGC's responsibility to do it correctly.

They dismissed the suit, because the plaintive provided no evidence that they weren't doing it correctly.

WHATEVER the reason for no (few) deer there. If you know that to be a fact, don't HUNT there. Why set yourself up for disappointment?
