ORIGINAL: retired guy Anybody fishin ??? I know you mean the SR but I have been hitting the local river now & then - just chucking 1/8 rooster tail spinners from shore. always pick up one or two here & there. Been quite lazy in regards to fishing - can't remember the last time I put the waders on. Maybe tomorrow - free day from work and a warmup/rain is expected - I might actually try to use a flyrod again.. I wonder how Slammo did yesterday on his central Pa. spring creek.. later

Think this is the first time since joining this group that there have been so few River Reports being submitted over a period of several weeks. Fishin must be really poor or the stars have lined up so that there is an unusual low number of us gettin to the river. Know Deer season and the Holidays are here but the fishing reports are down .

I've got 7 days planned between now and 1/2. I can only hope. At least this weekend looks to have more than 335 in the cards. I'll be the lone fool camping at Stoney's. It'll be very quiet and peaceful. And cheap. Charlie

RG, A lot of us are not retired yet, and, as you say, the holidays are upon us. I long for the days when I can just bemoan a lack of fishing reports, and not have to worry about the long drive west in a Lake effect storm! L13

Some people don't feel the need to chronicle their entire lives on the net---or "as predicted" make a statement that anyone w/ 1/2 brain could do( hell secret sandy went to 2000cfs--lol)--as for the ice--the spot is no "secret", but is the 1st spot to have safe ice every year--can usually get a couple of killer days in b4 somebody has to be the "man" and post it---goes from maybe 10 guys to around 100 real quick.

In a tent, or the back of the truck w/cap. Depends on the ground conditions and whether we want to set the tent up in the dark late tonight. It's 10 bucks a night per person with no electric- probably 15 with. Stoney turns on the heat in 1 bathroom/shower. It's going to be very limited as the snow piles up, but I hope to keep staying there. Nancy and I have lived in cold, snowy places our entire lives and have spent alot of time winter camping. Not a big deal. You need to call him in advance at 315 298 2325 to confirm. Good luck on your trip, hope you do well. Charlie

Jack, per person, which means 40+. We do use motels , but we have invested thousands in high end camping gear and actually enjoy it . It was colder when we backpacked above 12,000 feet in the Sierras in August than it will be this weekend. It's OK to save a few bucks, but mostly we do it bacause we want to. Camping with noone around, then walking into a place with few people fishing is very different than Brenda's and Altmar . Might as well be in Central Park, as to call it a wild experience, but it does have a very different flavor. Absolutely nothing wrong with motel and easier fishing, just not our first choice. I don't expect many people to understand, or have the vaguest clue as to why we choose to do what we do. Another 10-15 years will change our habits... Thanks, Metal. I was hoping for a freeze-up. Charlie

fichy, I completly understand.. it's a great feeling. of course one can not expect to live in freezing temps with wally gear... good luck this weekend and hope to see some slammer pic's, don't even need be fish, just a chronicle.. slayer, I understand your thoughts and reasoning about your "spots". I'm the same way towards the brookies or some hide away low pressure places for ice.. You won't hear me calling them out.. Luckly the high pressure places have so much volume (example LG) that need not worry about those things.. Also there are just way many places in the adk's & close to home to fish that crowds are not a problem , and they all look alike :).. A pond there could be 1 mile long..lol..

Yeah - I can see how that could P you off. Guess that's a downfall of living in the Fishing Captial of the World.. I'm not a hard-core ice guy - no hut, heater or pull-rope ice drillin contraption. Besides a couple of derbies I enter each year, I mostly fish small lakes and ponds for panfish (the fish that are a pleasure to eat) and rarely encounter others. p.s. - dosed off at 9 last night, up at 2. I can hear the yotes from my back deck, but the swirling winds will make them laugh at me if I try a set. Flippin 4 hours till the sun comes up for crow blastin.. Nowhere to go... I could take a drive over to the truckstop and talk to drunken fat women, but I think I'll play it safe, listen to Pink Floyd Animals CD and do a bit of housecleaning... PINK MAN PINK MAN ---- ahah yeeehhaaaahhhh!! later..d00d.
