Steel or Salmon?

I had less than 30 minutes to fish this evening, got lucky and pulled this big boy out. Almost 36" long, heavy, and mad.

Black tounge, black lips, gold tone to the body. I ain't seen a Salmon since the 80's. What is it?

My camera phone sux

I didn't know the difference in a Coho from a steelie till just about 5-6 years ago.
I had caught plenty over the years, but always thought they were just an "odd, olive colored" steelie

But it looks like a Coho to me

hey, i alluded to the fact i don't chit about species .
i just catch 'em by drifting junk past 'em is all

hell, until i actually got a bite and landed the " red colored steelie"  i was chucking junk to about 12 years ago, i had no idea what a Brown trout wuz

I "knew" that wasn't a steelie after landiing it
I had the ask a creek neighbor what kind of feesh it was

You caught that in a PA trib?

tell logan to post the pic of the fish I demo'd last fall... lmao, i can't stand to rope fish man.  It's why i refuse to hunt for deer anymore.  Turkey is another story as well as other small game.  Just don't like things to suffer even if they will end up in my stomach.

Sweet. I knew there was the occasional coho still migrating, but I had no idea that king's were around.

Awesome catch, Slick. Akin to winnin the lottery in my book. Well done! It would be cool to see a few more of them show up this year, to go with the bonus brownies that seem to be appearing in good numbers and size this fall.
