Fishers are a perfect addition to anyones camp. You dont need to bust out the 22 every 5 minutes. Now you dont need cats to take care of your rodent problem. A buddy of mine had one hanging around camp. His chipmunk infestation slowly disappeared.

The only problem is so will his rabbit and turkey population. They are a neat critter to watch but they are also the most efficient predator of ground nesting birds and animals in Pennsylvania and aren't above climbing trees to take sleeping turkeys and other tree dwellers.

Don't really want them around. They have their place but I don't prefer them. They do eat porkys so that's a plus. Been watching the same one and getting an occasional pic now and then. Hope it stays at one.

That 1st pic looks like it could be a fisher. The other ones look like a bobcat.

Another PGC flop. Brought to control porky population, but they found alot of easier game to eat. Nice pics though.

    What?

The fisher reintroduction has been a great success. They were reintroduced because they are a species that was once common throughout the Commonwealth, not because they control porcupines. Fisher are capable of killing a porcupine but no one in the know ever expected them to be any type of controlling factor on porcupine populations.

The fisher populations are never going to be large enough to be any significant factor on any of their prey species. Plus there is also now a limited trapping season on them where there populations are stable.

I think the reintroduction of the fisher has been a great success story. We went from having none to having a relatively small but stable population that can now be utilized as part of our furbearer and trapping resource. I don’t know what about that could be viewed as anything but a success?

I like having them, but I believe they are harder on turkey populations, than was thought before reintroduction.

Why do game agencies such as the PGC want to introduce another predator to the woods of Pa ? I don't really buy it's because of trapping. Farmers are getting upset with this introduction of the Fisher. Seems like Mr Fisher prefers a easy meal when provided such as those who take up residency in the chicken coop. Our once respected game agency is once again loosing popularity with some farmers. I was going to mention the yote problems but yall know that story. Many times a plan will backfire however the game agency will denie that their efforts to introduce a predator was the incorrect thing to do.Has the PGC ever admitted of making a mistake ? Years later is it found to be that the predator introduction was a mistake as the numbers climb as they have no natural predator except man. Should I go on about the reintroduction of the Timber Wolf and it's effect they have on ranchers out west and also in WI ?
