That makes sense waderboy.... correct me if im wrong but you don't sight fish right???

So hypothetically; if a run of 2000 fish comes by me in 1 day... maybe 500 of them will be within casting distance of me... that would leave me with 50 takers in that day... which makes sense; now add the occasional foul hookups and the flossees.... this would now explain those 100 hookup days that no one ever believes

Hey frame; I figured id bring this one back to the top so you can maybe depict it a little more...

Great topic metal; on friday morning I had 10 hookups... 8 of them were head shakers; 2 were foul hooked... 4 of them I am 99.9% sure of them smacking the fly... the other 4 were most likely flossed... now; don't think im saying that is the common ratio at all times... just my most recent observation...

Ok; so now im gonna kick back with a bowl of popcorn and watch the games begin now that I've broken the ice...

This was my opening statement...

DB - your logic reminds me of the client I just spoke with that needs to show more profit for his bank, but does not want to have a tax bill at year's end....

Have come to the conclusion that it is what it is in different parts of the river-
DSR Kings will clearly bite more agressivley than upriver . Reason- upriver they have been IN for a bit and are getting near the spawn with a thousand guys chasing and harassing them nearer to their ultimate death.  Its sometimes near impossible to find unmolested Kings up there- but it  can happen with a great deal of patience.
Upstream there is a lot more flossing going on if ya wanna have a King on. If one in a hundred BITES  down low its probably more like one in 500 up top and 500 fish days are rare up there. Of course ya can get aggravation responses on the beds if ya can find one with out 5 guys on it. It does get better in NOV though even with less Kings there are also lots less guys around too.
Probably gonna fish DSR when I'm up the first few days of October alone just to get some real biters. Then dedicate the rest of my season to upriver Hos and steel.
That oughta get some action------

BTW -despite the 'runs' we have had already its gettin kinda late for the up and mid river reports not to be busy. Yea yea yea  I know-- there are some fish there- but its still kinda late for it not to be gettin kinda busy up there on a average day. They should be seen bustin through kinda regular by now- not just some holdin in the snaggletooth pools.

In many years past they have been stacked up in the lower fly zone prior to September 15th.

This year was there the 14th and only seen a few off the bridge and one of them was a dead one on the bottom. I think fish are like women very unpredictable and once you think you have them figured out you are there shaking your head in amazment.

Fished LFZ for a bit last week. Lower (kiddie)pool had a few line shy fishes in it and one guy picked one up the right way in a coupla hours. Up above they had a lot on in the very top of the Church pool-most looked sideways like they didnt know wether to go up or down when they BIT-------Didnt fish either hole.
Fished the rapids in between in a coupla pockets and along the shoreline cutouts-saw ONE fish buzz up .

funny you say kiddie pool my dad has turned into taking my kid fishing. Finally got him to buy some stocking foot wader for better support but now guess who's job itis to tye them?

Now hopefully we can cover some ground hate to leave him by himself. But when he does hook up it is like seeing your kid hook up.

cool phots db thanks for sharing..
You all know I love fishing, Trout are tops . I'm sure I have spent more winter days on the SR in 1 year then many will in their lifetime (hey I heard that saying before)lol..
With that the last 3 years I have gotten back into the hard water scene.. Must say now days my winters from as early as Dec- 7th and lasting until April have been more and more the norm..
Two years ago every sat & sun were on the Ice.. Great friends and walking on water together is very pleasing..

Of course I will never turn down the opportunity to share in the water with friends.. This year may once again be a turning point for that to happen with you (db) & charlie..

So my thoughts at this moment ?? A Head spin.. Gills/Crappie/Browns/Chrome/stream trout/brookie ponds/tenderloins & yes the hard water..
Life is GREAT !!!
