You bet, I'll see what I can find and PM you the info later. I really don't see a problem but I would not be comfortable telling you yes and then have something happened to you or your gun.

I've never owned a lever rifle, always been a bolt guy.  When I was in my late teens, our neighbor said he was having a difficult time sighting in his lever .35 Remington carbine.  Since I was on a position rifle team, my father volunteered me to sight it in for him.  One shot and I knew why he was having trouble.  The recoil knocked the lens out of my glasses and the comb on the stock was so sharp that I got a cheek bruise with the very first shot.  I did fire it a few more times to get it as close as I was going to, but I can tell you I never fired three shot groups before making an adjustment.  I don't think it mattered much becuase I am sure he was well aware of the recoil and there were no carefuly squeezed shots on his part.

My father has an old J.C. Higgins .308 built on a Mauser action that is also a glasses lens knocker, but it takes about five shots to loosen it up -- LOL.   He loves that rifle and I loath it.

Bings,

My brother had a Grice Pee Wee in .308.  It is a Mohawk action with a Douglas barrel and a Fagen birds-eye maple stock that Grice gun shop used to put together.  I believe that the stock configuration is quite different than the original Mohawk because the recoil is a whole lot less.

In 1976 I was able to sneak up on a deer in Jefferson County and knife him to death.

and some of them don't even know that they're dead.......and some of them can't grasp the fact that they're on ignore.

Dar -
The first rifle I ever shot as a kid was a 30/30 Winchester lever. Had a short barrel and darned near killed me. Shot it till I could hit something and spent a coupla years down by Jim Thorpe  PA.
When Dad gave me that 30/30 Buffalo Bill with the  long octagon barrel is was a very smooth shooter. Must have been the much longer heavier barrel. Was always a sweet gun to shoot and both my kids took their first rifle  Deer with it.

In 1970 I tried pulling a badly wounded buck out of a brush pile planning on knifing him to death (my rifle was empty). Trust me when I say that is not a very good idea and one I won't repeat.

We need to start a new thread about the powerful recoil of thr 30/30.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely. The closer we adhere to the Holy Bible and the US Constitution (as it was written) the closer we get to the model that made America great. The great American experiment worked, human nature just got in the way.

For my 12th birthday dad bought me an H/R single shot 20 gauge that had a 30/30 barrel that would fit on it. Thus a single shot 30/30. We never could get that gun to shoot straight, kicked like a mule cause the gun was so light...

The 308 Mohawk I carry now beat me up real bad on the day I purchased it.
I was in the service stationed in Colorado and had been eyeing the Mowhawk 600 in the pawn shop for 4 months. Finally got the jing to buy it and ran right off to the shooting range. T-shirt, no recoil pad. I ran a box and a half of shells through her. Next day I was black and ble clear to the center of my chest...

That's all you really need in PA.

Even then a .30-06 180 grain is too much power. I shoot 150 grain out of my 30/06 and the deer dont move

Huh???????  Are you Doc Trouts kid or sibling?
That's just dumb.

Agreed that is all that is needed in PA, but some don't just hunt PA.
