Legal or not.

I fish the West Branch Delaware river for browns and rainbows. I C/R all fish. There are a few pools that I would like to fish in the artifical only area C/R. I have been looking at and thinking about using some artifical life like soft rubberized plastics ,made by Gulp that come in scented packages. I would like to know if anyone knows if it legal to use scented plastics in artifical area only? This is in New York State. Any help with this would be appreciated, Thanks, noodle one

west branch has some nice fish man; to my knowledge in the past, i always thought of artificials only for fly and lures, but this was before all of this berkley gulp and trout worms... im gonna have to look it up myself... btw, what area is artificials only on the westy? its been years since ive fished it...

ps... the east branch in the early season has some nice fish in it and the main delaware has some monsters lurking in it as well... just beware of the fly snoobs

Im pretty sure gulp has natural ingredients making it illegal, but I'm sure some soft plastics are,all man made.

Don't be surprised if they tell you to check with the local authority. They're not want to put themselves "on the hook" vis-a-vis the legality of their product in a special regulation area.

This is always an issue at a local DHALO and when it comes right down to it, in this situation, it's the WCO in question that will make the final call. On two subsequent trips over two days, I was stopped twice, and the first guy told me I was okay to use trout magnets and berkley plastics but the second one told me they were illegal and let me off with a warning. For me, it ain't worth the trouble and hassle.

Legality is proportionate to how pizzed off someone made the officer earlier in the day

Agreed; however, you'd think that the PFBC would take definitive action and take the ambiguity/uncertainty/proportion of legality/interpretation out of the equation.

I recall this issue was brought up long ago and, if my feeble memory serves me correctly, it's fine to use lures like gulp but email PFBC. They will eventually answer you then carry a copy of their response with your license.

You might want to copy and paste it here too.

Ok, bare with me here; im gonna assume that the pfbc is the pennsylvania governing body for fishing??????

With that question being asked, is there maybe other governing bodies that may regulate given west branch is in NY as well???? I know federal rangers patrol those areas mostly; im sure pfbc will be able to stear you in the right direction though.....

I'm a fly guy and I'm special, I was in all the Special-Ed classes at school. In fact, I was the only one in my 6th grade class with a driver's liscense

You'd think that, but it really doesn't affect the commission much one way or another, so there's no real impetus to address the issue.

That was one of the factors that eventually led to me trying fly fishing, that smug mouth-breather acting like he was doing me a huge favor.

haha not again what dont like the truth... its what that trout stamp gets ya, im not arguing its a bad idea... theres just not exclusive artificial only bass, pike, musky lakes whats really the difference... just giving the people what they want. im not for or against it man.

honestly only was interested about the gulp ect... cuz it was something i never read anything about
