I have a twenty year old copy of flyfisherman mag just for a story by George Harvey on his leader fomula.
I use surgeon loops instead of blood knots because they are larger, catch more air and help the leader land that just a little bit lighter that makes a differenece on ultra calm spring creeks.
Best dry fly leader ever devised.

Salmo.. Nail knot fly line to leader for sure.. from there on out surgeons knots for me.. they are just was easier then bloods to tie with cold wet hands.
As said before For salmon I tie all my leaders & tippets.. Steelhead I will start with a pre tied then just add tippet as needed..

Pa, any chance you like them in Black & Tans ?

The orvis Battenkill Mid Arbor IV thats the one to get.. Avoid the clearwater for salmon, just not enough guts..

hey you guys that drink yuengling, my buddy from PA came up and we threw back a few cases said that if the bitterniss bothers you or you just want a different taste along with your yuengling, put a couple shots of Franks Red Hot in a glass and poor over the top. It sounds weird but it definately has a different taste.

Picked up a Clearwater 6 -with brand new w/f F  line- for my 5 wt rod-brand new never used-$50.
Use the 5 wt late season for cold weather  Steel they are a bit laid back then and the 5 is great.
Know the drag might not be great on that model for sharks but have been using a lineholder reel so far on the steel and my fingers get burned and it will be nice to have somekinda drag.
Figured it will be OK for the Cookies.
