How Do You Do It ?

man I have a very BIG house but I am constantly being forced ( to down size my storage area for gear.. Where the heck do you folks put everything ??

My stuff is being consolidated to containers & totes based on seasons, still there just is no room for the darn totes let alone rods, boats, tubes, tents, even my guitars & amps have been forced into seclusion
I did finally put my foot down today with my Bill Graham posters
I'm at witts end here..

No way !! you are starting to sound like my wife !! LOL SHE is the problem not my gear.. She sure liked those float tubes in the salt pond which I never use
I really would hate to be on TV as a hoarder but man you never know when you might need that 10th fly rod or 7th guitar..
I did finally let one of the atv's go last fall.. It was a 2005 grizzly with only 50 hrs.. Never used it as you said..

Things got crazy though when I started Guiding, think of it , not only buying for ones self but in triples... I mean everything from campin, hunting to fishing , hard & soft water.. Crazy !!

I just need to find a better system of origination and possibly a BIGGER house.. Not bragging just looking for answers, sadly pa yours is not the one I'm looking for.. LOL

    P.S.
I have 3 kids and 4 grandkids who I hope will enjoy the stuff long after I'm gone..

Craftsman tool chest, deep 4 drawer middle box
    Sits on shelf in closet
Top 2 drawers are perfect for line and lures.
Middle drawer is a little taller so misc items
Bottom is large enough for reels and larger spools

Yes I could, You are quite right my friend and I feel bad for not getting you more goods.. Is The addy the same ? If so maybe a little feel good package will come along while your laid up..

As always all the Allmans runs from the past 2 years and beyond, even some recent Gregg shows before he started hacking blood up last week.. The Mt. Jams are tops ,all the Furthur shows are running and of course my oldies private stash..

These days cd's are a thing of the past, high tech just keeps getting better. To store and play some 20,000 shows digitally (not mp) thru the theatre system or old school stacks is where its at.. Even snail mail is pretty much obscure. Wish I could Invite you to the basement but them there folks are pretty lock down being the source.. I will send the vibes to you..

    Iko Iko all day...

I got these stackable plastic dressers Id call them.. Some are big, some small.. They work great but man, **** everywhere..
All my fly tying ended up in a container tote.. Bench gone and no room for another at the moment.. I"ll miss it in a few weeks so I'm sure I will stomp my foot again...

Sure like the Tool book Idea.. I have a giant rolling toolbox cart that is doing nothing in the garage but taking up space... See dont git rid of anything , ya never know...
    Thanks !!!!

Blue print cabinets would even be bigger and have 2-3" deep drawers.
Made the mistake of selling a nice one before I realized how much I need it

I USED to think tuna was the man---but a mount not even allowed in the house?---yrs ago(b4 kids, houses, ect) the mount was directly over the bed in the apartment----wife HATED it but that's where he stayed----now sits in the living room between 2 20+ steel mounts(skin).

Steel on a pin---so easy a caveman can do it.

Used to be a 'collector' too-gotta buckle down and throw stuff out- period.
For a coupla years after gettin rida my boat I kept all my boat rods and off shore stuff- NUTSO_- fineally just got rid of it. Why did I keep it anyhow?
If ya havent used it in a coupla years odds are your NOT GONNA---outa here.
Had hunting cloths that will never fit me again hung in the cellar for years- whos kiddin who --diet?-- - outa here.
Had 38 long guns once- whos kiddin who --down to 8 and cant find time to use all them either. The pistolas are another thing though.
Then theres that stuff ya wantem ta throw in the box with ya when its time to go.

slayer.. 100 % agree I totally puss ed' up on that mount.. I would have made a stronger statement if it just looked right in here.. It looked horrible... My house was a general store built in 1923.. goes without saying it's not really set up right as far as living space, getting better through the years...

Long story.. Donated to mom's house after dad passed.. It will come back

Do I need 40 to 50 rods, 25-30 reels, miles of line, hundreds of lures, 10 pound of sinkers, 10+ tackle boxes and hundreds of flies (I don't fly-fish)?
I have so much stuff that I often can't find what I need so I buy more.

Probably not but I don't have anyone forcing me to get rid of it.
Is there a TV show fishin stuff hoarders?

pgmarty, your quite right do I need all this STUFF ?? maybe not but it's bought and paid for so what the heck.. Maybe some day I'll get those muzzleloaders back out, maybe not.. Great thing is someone in my family will have them to do as they wish..

It took me a long time to give up the bigger toys but it happened and I did shed a tear...

The boat was bought new in 1986 and while it provided many years of enjoyment it sat in the garage for 2 years not being used.. Hope someone else gets the pleasure I had..
The sad day before it left my driveway.. Sure wish had it today...
but then again my canoes and jon boat jut sit out back..

The jixer that HAD to go before I did: Only to find an R-6 sitting in the garage: IT'S FOR SALE !!

my last sale was the PLUSH grizzly (on left) .. the other 2 will NEVER go...

    Yes I'm a hoarder !!

Yes dude addy is unchanged and I still have storage space.
Besides I'm ooooold school. still never owned a cell phone.
Its OK though since I don't think I've missed any urgent calls to perform bypass surgeries yet.

PS have you checked to see if you can fit your wife into one of those totes?
Been waiting for some other smartass to say it but I guess I'll have to take the heat if she reads the board.

At least she never has any qualms about me jetting off into the great outdoors.. as long as the pool boy is around..

I figured you could figure th lol part out without my actually writing it.
You sir do seem to be one lucky man when it comes to your wife letting you loose to all that hunting and fishing you do. I am pretty much in the same setup but still being a fairly new second time round I have learned when to stay near home and the trophy wife.
Hope to see you, and many of the rest here, this fall. Its been to long.

    LOL.. WB...
before we even tied the knot 26 years ago she surly knew the wild child she was in for.. She endured being 7 months prego with twins in a tent up at Lake Placid then 3 years later my daughter was born 4 days after I returned from a week at deer camp. That was before cell phones and once at camp you just don’t leave. I must say she is a good woman even though she won't hunt or fish any longer.. Just wish the pool boy would leave more 30's around for when I come home.. LMAO..
Yea bro would be good to hang again .. Get that darn crossbow permit !!! I'm off to deer camp next week to plink off some chipmunks and scout the long horns..

shoot.. maybe I'm getting off topic or talking family here.. Hope I wont get scolded... Darn Prudes...

i'm greatfull myself for my wife as i do multiple trips per month all year long. my minimum is 1 trip a month and sometimes 3 or 4 a month. i had her up prego in january at 7 months; she even got out of the car and came down to take a pic of me with a fish i caught. the guy next to me was shocked, and was even more shocked when he realized she was prego. he told me i was the luckiest man he knew. my son was baptized in the salmon river, and my daughter will be as well. i'm very lucky and happy to do what i want to do with little hassle. most of my friends are single and still strolling down that lonely fast lane... they just dont get it; i'm not there anymore... when i have time to get away and do something, i wanna do something... not sit at some over priced bar and do nothing but spend and **** my hard earned money away... i want to waste it on fishing... not that im opposed to throw back a few cold ones while up though

oh yeah, sorry to get off topic

hey tuna, your a handy guy it seems, why dont you build yourself a little pole barn on slab to store your stuff ??? you can keep a little room off to the side or back that you can heat with an amish heater or something when it comes to storing your weather sensitive stuff... i'm sure the wife would love that idea

VERY BAD IDEA WITH THIS POST ! What if the wives stumble upon it? Think of the damage that will be done. We'll all be giving away perfectly good "stuff". I am already banned from bringing home any more good "stuff" from jobsites. LOL Only advise is to go vertical and overhead with storage.

    Intrawebs dudes. All about giggles.
Don't fall into the trap of taking anything to serious.
Most times its a joke that has gone over your head.
And if its not a joke the joker that wrote it isn't worth getting upset with.
