shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh DT i have been using a spinning reel i used to have a flyrod bask in the high school
days. ticked my sister off one day and as i remember it she turned a two peice into a 4 piece travel rod.
well i had no job to replace it and shortly there after i went into uncle sams army.And than life happened.
only got back into it like 4 years ago.

start with something in the #12 0r #14 hook range before going smaller untill you get the hang of it. use dry fly dubbing or natural muskrat or beaver fur dubbing, these repell water and your fly will float longer. rabbit fur absorbs water and is better for nymphs.
rules of thumb
1. wings are the length of the eye to the bend of the hook
2. tail is same length of the wings
3. hackle is the length of the hook shaft (they sell hackle gauges)
4. keep enough room for the head and tying off.

5. when palmering a caddis i usually use hackle that just reaches the hook point.

Sculpin-duud, did they show up yet? They should be there by now, for sure. Wifey got something in the regular mail from a client in California the day after they spoke about it. How that happens, I'll never know.

yes dt i have been tying on 14 size hooks as a matter of fact i think what i tied for the swap ostrich mayfly nymph was on a 14.Now no laughing at that fly i tried lol btw it is olive it looks like a fish would eat it. Paul

T.T. I dont have them yet but a package came yesterday that was due .65 cents so I believe that was them, I put the money needed in the mail box so I should have the flies tonight, and I will get them mailed out by the weekend.....

That sucks. Sorry about that. Maybe a couple stamps fell off or something. There should have been more than enough postage on it.  OR, maybe one of the offices nit-picked about the size. There should have been nothing wrong with it. Oh, well. Sorry, again.

got mine today, "they're as pretty as a picture" so to say.. thanx all!!! 1-2-3---14,15,16? now if i can only figure out which ones are which???? i'm more of a dry fly guy.. if any of you can let me know which is which in the picture i'de sure appreciate it.
