TRIPLETS =

Here's something you do not see everyday...

While fishing the Clarion River this evening I was entertained by this family for about 20 minutes before I backed out and left them alone..

That last one is my favorite too.. wish it were just a little clearer.. but trying to get them all standing still at the same time was really hard.. especially since I was watching them with my eyes more than the screen on the back of the camera

My favorite set of triplets was about 7 years ago (?)the mother was a three legged survivor... If I get a chance I'll see if I can get a picture of them... I know I have them on video...

I have seen quite a few sets since moving here in 87...

Geez. You need to get out more. Ive seen them fairly often spotting or while groundhog huntin' in the summer. Though of course i see far far more with 1 or 2. I certainly wouldnt put triplet fawns on an even plane with seeing bigfoot or the infamous Pa mountain lion. lol.

Nice pics doc. Thanks for sharing them.

Last I heard there was no doubt it was a lion- photos said it all.
There had been sightings a few miles away  nobody had believed and some think it may have been a captive escapee- nobody stepping up on that though.
We get pretty decent sightings here from time to time in different parts of the state. You know the drill though - nobody believes it- till this time.
Still waitin for somebody ta run over a bigfoot too.

    from QDMA =

Twins are the norm in most populations, but as many as 15 to 20 percent of does will bear triplets when deer numbers are in balance with high-quality habitat. This is why the average doe in a healthy population can produce more fawns than the average doe in an unhealthy population. It's also why you should keep a close eye on deer density after making improvements to habitat quality, and adjust your doe-harvest goals if needed.

Did you know that twin and triplet fawns were not necessarily sired by a single buck? Research has shown that 20 to 25 percent of twin fawn sets were sired by two different bucks. Recently, the first case of "multiple paternity" in a set of triplets - meaning three different sires - was documented by researchers at Auburn University in Alabama.

Had nothing to do with the "nice pic of triplets" and everything to do with Doc citing qdma as a source of information, in the last post he made... which i replied to. Just an observation. But i think an intelligent gentleman such as your self probably already had that figured out, but if not...

    Theres your "clue".

I think everyone agrees that DT put up a nice photo. However since he had to bring PA QDMA into the thread now the thread has gone south. Check out what QDMA has to say about putting out mineral salts and bait then using a trail cam to get pictures. Too bad all three are not legal depending where and when used.QDMA failed to mention that.

I posted the triplet info because I found it interesting and thought other might to.. I mentioned QDMA as the source of the statement I put in quote.. that's the way you are supposed to do it with things you quote on the internet .. state the source.... then the quote ...
It went south because the same people took it there as they always do .... the quote was simply a biological fact about deer and fawns ... that maybe not everyone knew...

When one post from a link that it's organization has no proving facts rather it be reproduction or deer management to name a few. One will surely get criticized for posting such. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion rather if you agree or not. Again nice Bambi pictures.

The quoted information Doc posted from the QDMA site are proven facts from research.

What in the quoted reference was the opinion part you are making reference to?

"What in the quoted reference was the opinion part.. "

The statement is based on their OPINION of what "good habitat entails. To some that may be a fairly healthy forest ecosystem. To others that may be a 2 acres of clover, 2 acreas of alfalfa, 2 acres of tecomate's newest blend and an acre bean field with 10 supplemental feeders and mineral licks set up.
