320 GTI's can be had on eBay for $40-$52 apiece. That's used of course.   Some come with line counters, some don't.  Some look newer, some don't.  Some come with bottom mounts (to clamp the underside of the rod).    I just picked up 2 of them there.   I had been on a recent charter trip on Lake Ontario and the captain believed strongly in them.  We were fishing for Browns, Steelhead and Lake Trout and these reels are certainly adequate, but from your signature I figure you know that.   Did you know that 320 GTI's are the largest selling single model reel in the world?     See this:   http://www.pierfishing.com/msgboard/viewtopic.php?p=11723

I'm in the market for 2 of the LH models 321GTI or 321GT2 for my southpaw grandson.   To be honest with you I own a few of the 320GTI's and just one of the 320GT2's.   When I open them up to apply a little grease and reel oil, I notice no significant difference between the GTI's and the GT2's.    But I don't take them completely apart as putting them back together is quite complicated as indicated by the above link I sent you. Other than taking it apart enough to remove the spool I don't do much more.  I am by no means an expert on these reels.     I just dab a little vaseline to the gears and the plate that slides back and forth when you toggle between casting mode and retrieve mode.  I also apply a little graphite gun grease to the sliding line guide mechanism and a little reel oil to the 2 bearings on either side of the spool.

If I happen to use these reels in a saltwater application, I will open them up as described above, then I will flush them gently with water to get out the salt residue. Then I let them dry for a day.  Then I spray them with a little WD-40 all over.   Then I let that dry for a day.  Then I lube as described above.

But other than loosening the 4 screws on the RH side to gain access to the spool and the bearings, I do no more disassembly.  Just too difficult to put it all back together unless you are very experienced with these reels.

I just bought one of the 320 LD's (lever drag) also on Craigslit for $40.   Considered it a steal.

and some of them don't even know that they're dead.......and some of them can't grasp the fact that they're on ignore.
