Yellow creek lake

I get there once or twice a year usually to run the boat and check the equipment. It is a beautiful lake and close (about an hour) to home. I never seem to find any fish even though I admit to just fooling around and throwing lures and plastic. I also never see any fish caught even though it looks like great smallmouth and largemouth lake. I also know it is supposed to contain a lot of northerns. I don't see a lot on my depth finder either but there is sufficient structure. Can anyone give me any tips on techniques, lures or bait that might catch fish.
Thanks in advance.

Fish the coves.  Fish at dawn or dusk.  Fish Shiners.  It doesn't get easier than YC

I was out there last weekend, wading the shallows around the coves in search of pike. No pike, but I did stick a nice fat bass on a pike streamer, which was nice.
