Loyalhanna dam closed

Dams like Loyalhanna dam when i called they told me all dams are closed for the next 30-40 days because of the Miss.river flood .

Don't know where this guy is getting his info. Called them today and Loyalhanna dam had all 4 gates open, and Conemaugh had gates 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, and 11 open. Not saying he's wrong as I didn't physically visit the dams, but I have no idea why they'd lie about it. the bush rec. area IS closed, but the dams, to my knowledge, are wide open.

Again, not calling bassdawg a liar, but unless the USGS is lying, he's completely wrong.

the boat launches are "closed" but the lake is not "closed" (they don't close florida! or wally world).  shore fishing is permitted and i dragged my canoe down to the lake near the dam a few days ago.  BUT the levels have fluctuated wildly this spring - from about 10 verticle feet above normal pool level when i was there last thursday, to about 25ft above normal pool level in april.  what used to be 10 ft of water is now 20 ft - and was 35 ft not to long ago.  crappie are all screwed up and who knows what kind of spawn will occur this year.  i only caught 3 small crappies in among trees that were flooded and no gills.  poor fishing.

Ah, you're talking about the backwaters access areas being 'closed to access'. I was thinking in terms of the dams being literally closed, ie: closing all gates.

I am sorry i guess i didn't explain very good ,i did call an want to know if i could launch a boat for fishing an she said no they would not be open for 35-40 days.Sorry for the misunderstanding.
