Yellow Creek is loaded with fish and they need harvested.  There has been very little pressure this year with high rains, leaving the fish spread out in both areas (ferriers run and sixth street).  There are also a lot of very large fish still swimming.

I'm looking at getting into fishing for more trout and other fish around Indiana. While your on the topic of yellow creek, are you allowed to fish above the spillway upstream from 6th street?

locals refer to this area as the waterworks...

yes you are allowed to fish it.  Great pike, carp, and summer trout haven.  A lot of rattlers are hunted up there during the summer as well.  So tread with care.

upstream from this is considered ferriers run and yes, there are trout there.  You are not allowed to fish more than 500 yds above the access area to ferriers.  This is privately owned by the infamous YCTC.

I'm not sure of the access area to ferriers run, is the YCTC land all marked to where you can't fish past. I don't want to be sent to mexico to do slave work

Wish, The access to Ferrier Run is directly off of Ferrier Run Rd. It's paved for the first hundred feet or so and then changes to gravel. Take it till you reach the parking area near the creek. You can fish upstream for about 500 yards as was previously posted. You'll have no problem recognizing Yellow Creek Trout Club property there are plenty of signs. Also as previously posted, watch for the rattlers! They are definitely there.  Lou

its metz road to ferriers. road straight across from vennards convenience store, hang 2 rights: the first at a stop sign, then the first road to the right you see..  Don't waste your time fishing ferriers... fish 6th st. if you are after trout right now.

I walked up to the "waterworks" saturday evening. Hit a few spots on the way up, hit a few rainbows. Luckily I walked up to the retaining wall above the "lake" area and read the sign that says "no swimming, no wading, no boating" within 200ft of the dam. I wouldof had a fine coming my way i'm sure, i'd still like to fish the "lake" there but I guess i'm not going to with the boat :(
