The stream is polluted by urban run off. May as well have a side fertilizer with it. Same thing.

Every other week or so i go to peters and take home 3-4 trout from upstream the water treament plant. Yesterday as i was fishing, some guy came and started fishing on the stream across from me. here is our discussion

Guy - are those your fish? (i had 2 in a ziploc bag)
    Me - yeah
Guy - you know your not allowed to keep them, right?
    Me- WHAT?!

From there on I pretty much uh-huh'ed him off. Just thought I'd check

Upstream? Like where catfish run enters upstream, or stuart road bridge upstream?

Rephrase. Didn't get one word of that. I think I'm gonna join the TCAA so that if anyone pulls anything like that again, I can have some authority to correct them. And, I'd be fun to help them stock it again in june.

When you say upstream of the water treatment plant, do you mean upstream like the end of the parking lot there, or upstream like a half mile or so?

I'm just curious about the fish movement. I've caught a few here and there far from any stocking points and times.

About half a mile. There is a parking lot between the treatment plant and cogo's that has a deep pool in the creek across from it.

Ah, I understand now. I've dropped a few nymphs and buggers through there a couple of times and got some chubs. There are some decent looking runs and pools further up too that I have been tempted to drift a nymph through.

I've actually had this happen to me once or twice through the years, and like PeteM stated, i think it's moreso "that they'd like you to practice C&R-but you don't have too if you wanna creel a few". I was once told yrs back from a younger fella who was a member of TCAA (or at least he said he was) that you couldn't fish the stream at all b4 opening day (not that i ever keep anything anyways). I always thought that the stream "was technically open year round somewhat like the yough"??? I'm still not completely sure of this, but anyhow, ever since that conversation i've always gone after opening day anyways, much after opening day to avoid the crowds & to have choice over the spots.

Peters Creek is a great creek. A real gem here in this area. The stream definitely isn't the cleanest but if you work it there are plenty of trout to be had thanks to the efforts of Tri-Community Anglers. I've kept fish from this creek before and the trout taste like any other stockie. I'm not real big into eating trout but I do believe that the water is safe enough to eat the fish from.
