Beaver Run
Just found out this place is relatively close to where I'll be moving in a few months. I've never fished here and didn't find to much recent info on the boards regarding this place. From a map it looks pretty big. I would be shore fishing always. Is it worth it? Any hints you guys can give? Thanks in advance.

So what ever happened with this: "Ron Evancho will make his case for allowing fishing at Beaver Run Reservoir at the next meeting of the Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County, which is set for noon March 9"???

ORIGINAL: mr.crappie Also,I understand that there is very good hunting there. sam Yes there is, long ago in my younger years when pap was still with us we use to hunt up in that area. My father, me, my brothers & brother-in-laws. My father knew a farmer that owned property (that was just on the opposite of a ridgeline from beaver run reservoir) up there personally, we just all knew him by "old man hilty". The last time i was up that way ages & ages ago i knew he had a sideroad named after him "hilty road". Bless his heart as this old gentleman welcomed me, my father, brothers & brother in laws into his home every buck season, had a big 'ole hot breakfast with coffee & toast waiting for all of us every year. I will never forget him nor the memories of hunting his property (with dad & everyone else mentioned) in my younger years, cherished memories to say the least.

We had the meeting with the cnty comm., but were turned down by them & the Municipal Authority, with one of the resons given, was that they were afraid of litter & erosion issues. Of course this was before the gas well drilling on 'our' property. sam ORIGINAL: DaGman So what ever happened with this: "Ron Evancho will make his case for allowing fishing at Beaver Run Reservoir at the next meeting of the Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County, which is set for noon March 9"???

I agree there will allways be litterers, but there doesn't seem to be a problem with the other resivoirs that are open to fishing. The PFC even offered to patrol it more often, but that wasn't good enough for the County Comm. sam

But it is still ashame "something" of an agreement could'nt be reached.

I'd love to see it as an unpowered boats only, artificial lures only, catch and release only lake.

I'm not condoning it or saying you should attempt it. But I know a lot of people who sneak in and fish it. I wouldn't !

If it was opened it would only be great for a short time then be just another average lake, then probably get stocked with trout. Probalby best to keep it as a "running hole".

Any artificial only, catch and release lake would be unreal! That is a great idea, there would be some major trophies in there.
