Heavy

Any of yinz ever whacked 30, 40, or 50lb fish till your shoulders hurt?

Ever have your arms sore enuff you don't wanna cast anymore?

 I/we do it every spring.

The season is over...the fish have moved....thought I'd share some pics from a few weeks back. We put some seriosly heavy fish on the bank. I won't even post the sizes....you wouldnt believe me.....speakin of "not believing" me.....

I wasnt even gonna put up this post....cause its gonna draw fire. All the carp I catch...are on metal....people say I'm full of sheet....I could prove ya wrong....but I'd have to blindfold you. Maybe my hardware is just "blessed"

Admittedly....I foul hook some fish....but all fish pictured in this post....all caught fair...enjoy... or fire away....I'm down with either

My pic quality sux...and my fish are dirty...I aint Bings

Some of these fish ripped over 100 yards of line off a cinched drag.

My new wallpaper on my phone:

Gotta have one of these:

This fish was darn near big as her....no chance of a pic with it HappyFish is becoming quite the pro....the fish "on" was 30lbs+

This kid is gonna surpass dad and grandpa....it's genetic

Just to be clear....and stir the pot...my helmet is on...I call this one "dirty girl"

I don't always snag fish, but when I do...
I choose Little Cleos

Wrong!!! I've got the best carp fly. Let's just say it does the backwater grand slam. Get a few bass first, then pick up a pike or two, then a rogue bowfin or gar and then finish up with a nice fatty carp. All on the same fly. Slick knows where.

Great stuff. I run into these German pigs every year out there, but have never actually met anyone else (except bowfishers) who admit to targeting them. Don't know why. Carp are great sport and much respected elsewhere in the world.

I've caught them on every kind of Acme spoon, though they seem to have a particular affinity (hatred, I should say) for cleos and wob-l-rites. Spoons **** them off and they nail them defensively, not out of a feeding instinct. Quillbacks and mondo shad were hittin 'em too this year. The majority of carp hookups, however, are snags. And the majority of those snags are in their big ol' tails. This makes for a long, drawn-out fight and a good workout, but it gets old fast, and makes it difficult to target other species. After a couple days of the carp being in there, I get sick of trying to shake them off, put away the spoons, and switch to spinnerbaits.

They are fun, though, in moderation.

Weird sight the other day: rains had inundated a trail I use. I'm wading along it when I see something swimming toward me. Thought it was a snake, but as it got closer I saw that it was a carp. A carp. Swimming right up the trail in a foot of water. Strange days.
