I think it's awesome that not only is he so young and engaged in the outdoors, but actively trying to make his own bait. Especially when many of his peers are probably glued to TV sets and video games. Go get em' leolizard!

He may invent the hottest new bait out there and make millions! "Theres a sucker born every minute". My advice, make it colorful, flashy, and throw in some scientific BS no-one understands! I'll take a cut Liz! I don't use powerbait, but I'm always messing around trying to tie the hot fly no-one has, but everyone wants.

Maybe I should watch some of the fish in peters creek, and see what they seem to like to eat the best. I do know I saw a trout eat a baby water snake off the surface of the creek last year.......

If you really want to try to make a homemade bait, here ya go. Get some hatchery pellets, the kind they feed the trout with. Put in blender and crush til a powder. Add some water and make into a paste. You'll know if it's too wet or too dry. Adjust accordingly with water if too dry, or more powder if too wet. Add some honey and some peanut butter for binding purposes. Fresh stockies will eat this up big time. I have used this recipe for over 30+ years. We used to have a co-op nursery near where I grew up.

Caught 11 on it today in 3 hours. You don't think the glitter could be cutting up their intertines, do you? It isn't glass glitter, just plastic.

as for the real stuff. I've seen that gooey stuff all through through their intestines. I really wouldn't sweat it, leo. Trout have a lot of funky stuff in their stomaches/intestines. and its no big deal to see a rock or two. so if they can safely swallow rocks, I'd say their fine with plastic glitter.

Alot of people hate on powerbait, but it has caught fish for me if fished correctly. Its really not as stupid as the stigma leads on to be.

LEO Does it float or sink like a rock ? Stream fishing is ok if it sinks, but floating is what you need for lakes.

It sinks like a rock. That would't work in a lake bacause you need to suspend in a few inches off the bottom, right? How do I make in float?
