A Bit of History

A while back I was at a public auction and brought this little item home with me to put on the shelf. Pretty cool little reel but don't think it'll see any use from me. Just another thing to add to my collection------





Looks like the main gear runs along a fiber disk that turns the spool. The crank handle is on the other side.....





Also - I was paging through a book I also found at a sale a few years ago and I thought I'd post some pics of the pages within. Kind of like a catalog of Hardy. Very interesting how things were back in the early 1900's.





Thought I'd post a pic of a reel I believe KJ picked up recently.....








Didn't know they had wading boots and stocking foot waders back then..







Double Articulated flies - how 'bout that!

Hope this didn't bore ya but if anyone has an old rod, reel or another piece from Hardy and think it would be listed in here let me know and I'll look it up and send ya a pic.

    that is very cool! the uniqua is spot on... even with the "regulator" which was a limited feature

    is there a date on the catalog? '31?

    Yeah KJ - I'm thinking it's '31 - that's what is on the cover. I tried to figure out the cost of the items but can't quite get the currency converter thing going. I'll post some more pics tomorow.

    That is pretty cool steely not boring at all... anything on bamboo rods in there?

    Yeah dime - lots of info. .... including how 'boo came to be. I'll take a pic of that also. Hope I don't get into some copyright issue with it though.

    Those streamers with the spinners are pretty cool. I have to find some of those.

    That's pretty interesting steely. My brother has a 14' #9 house of hardy spey in bamboo. I'll have to see if it has the steel core as it is pretty heavy. I've yet to cast it on the water though.... thanks for the response
