Glad Run Lake ?

Never fished Glade Run and was thinking about giving it a try. Will be using small boat with EM.How crowded does it get this time of year and whats your opinion on this lake as far as fishing goes.

It's been about 5 years since I've fished there consistently - maybe once or twice a year the last couple of years.

Most weekdays weren't too bad, though once in awhile you show up and it's packed, but usually not too many boats on a weekday. Can't really speak to how weekends are.

It's a pretty typical PAFBC trout lake. Good in April through mid to late May. Have a buddy that fishes there often, and catching 15-20 trout a day there for him isn't uncommon. Gets real weedy around the shore lines when it warms up unless they've done a draw down or something in the past few years. Not sure how it is from a boat when that happens.

Used to see lots of guys trolling for trout. Seem to do pretty well.

Used to be lots of undersized crappies and panfish, as well as a few perch. Pretty typical western PA lake for bass - mostly dinks, a few nice ones. Gets stocked with channel cats as well, or at least used to.

If you're going out for trout it will obviously be crowded for the next month or so. Since you have a boat it won't be as bad. Have had tons of fun through the years trolling spinners for stockies. Once the summer hits topwater for bass can be fun even though most of them are on the small side. Catfishing at night can be very productive too. You will have to fight off the little bullheads but with patience there are some big channels in there.

the last time i was at glade run, i spoke for a bit with a guy on kayak (i was on the shore). he seemed to be having more success than i was due to his ability to get to were the fish were. most of the shoreline is fishable, but its a pain in the tush and a long walk to get to lots of spots in the lake, so there should be plenty of places to go where there will be fish but no one else to fish it!

I fish it probably 10-15 times a year out of my yak. Everything that was said above is great advice. I troll alot, hit both trout and crappies. Gets real weedy by June. Drifting with minnows is also very effective if you have a little chop. Also a great carp lake. Hoping that funding can be found soon to keep it around - it's on the list for dam repairs.

You guys are great,I really appreciate the info. Its sad that so much money in government is wasted and we are slowly loosing's our small lakes due to lack of funds. These small lakes are the future for our kids fishing. I'm betting a lot of us here were introduced to fishing at these smaller lakes. I know I was.

Was pretty windy on Thursday, water was high and muddy. Bite was very very slow. Saw only one fish caught. We picked up two. Thanks for all the info and maybe we'll try it again. OA
