How'd ya do?

My legs are tired and my back hurts, so must have been fishing all day.  First time I've been able to fish the opener in 5 years and this is weather we get?  C'mon.  Was fortunate to find a stream that handled the rainfall OK.  Once out in the rain, it didn't seem so bad.  Even were a few periods of relative dryness.  Kept 3 of the nicer ones for dinner tonight and let a few more swim another day.

Hopefully you got out and even caught a few.

did well on s. branch of french creek...had the whole stream to ourselves by 9am...upper end of creek was surprisingly low...traveled to lower stretches around 1pm to find that they were too fast to fish...ended up in edinboro to catch just one more before calling it a day...ended up with around 30 caught between the 3 of us with 2 palaminos mixed into the bunch with one being about 18"

Fished little shenango in mercer county for couple hours before work. A slightly dirty but not bad. Good level (i was surprised) and flow. 2 suckers and a carp! Will give it another try this week if the rain holds off.

I also fished the little shenango on opening day for a few hrs no trout...then went upstream to Hadley looked at the creek and it looked even worse. Skunked on opening day how about that! The amount of rain that fell on sat. that creek should be high for awhile.

Hemlock, Piney, and Oil creeks were all blown as of 2PM today. Looks like no hope of fishable water for several days.

Just missed ya by a few hours.  I absolutely had to work some today so didn't get down there until 3:00.  Love the muddy water.  16 browns to hand and 3 steelhead as a bonus.  Just got home about an hour ago.  Left the spot to a guy and his 2 kids while they were still biting.  He already had one hooked before I rounded the bend.

That was by far the worst opening day I ever had in 25 years of fishing this area.    Oil Creek was very high to start the day.  We caught fish pretty well until 9 am when all of the mud hit the streams.  Once they turned brown, nobody got a hit the rest of the day.   The hole I usually start the day at typically had about 15 fishermen around it had only 4 people there to start the day, and I was the only one left by 9:30.     We couldn't even fish Oil on Sunday because the flow was at 3200 CFS and the water level was at 6'.

Some guys from our camp went and fished smaller creeks like Pine and Thompsons run on Sunday, but they were most;y blown out too.  Looking at the weather forecast, I'd expect most of the area to remain unfishable until May.
