didya go?

I planned on fishin gopening day, but the forecast and the potential interaction with fools scared me away. Didya go?

definitely staying away from moron central. they're out in full force here. hundreds of them passing the house. this is the most action this road has seen since deer season. if i go anywhere, it'll be in my backyard, catchin natives.

Rolled out of bed at 9.  doing laundry now.   I don't fish for trout and I don't fish in the rain......unless I'm a few miles from the ramp, then I'm already wet!

Nah. I don't go fishing to be around people. I go to get away from them or spend some quality time with just a couple of friends.

lol, I'm of a similar mind, minus the backyard native stream. If I had that, I'd never leave home to trout fish!

Thankfully I'm at work today. Drove past turtle creek it was high and muddy and there were still dozens of people standing right in the middle of the creek not catching ne thing. Could not believe the weather didn't keep more people away.

I don't trout fish. They don't feed the "Farm Raised Trout" for 3 to 4 days before they are transfered. So it becomes about a week that the trout have not eaten. Then it becomes a bunch of morons shoulder to shoulder at a "Turkey Shoot" or let us just call it a "Trout Hooking Contest". The trout will eat anything that comes within reaching distance. It's a bunch of BS. I'm sorry if I stepped on anydodys toes or upset them, but it's the truth, think about it. God bless you all!

A bad day of fishing beats a good day at work.

it was a horrible morning out on the boat. 9-9:30 it got extremely windy and my 50 lbs concrete anchor holding me in place wasnt enough. It took everything my 36 lb thrust trolling motor had to get me back to the boat ramp. There were trees in the woods falling like dominos

We always go. For the past 30 years (since I was old enough to drive) we've gone to Millers Run in Washington Co. People laugh but we have been fishing the same spot for most of those 30 years and we always catch double digit trout opening day. Only caught 10 today ...usually catch 20 each between me and my buddy. He was probably around 10 too.

The key is to have a good spot with no room for more that 2 (we had Danny's 13 year old daughter and my 10 year old with us)to 4 people to fit. We all cast around each other and have a great day every year...even the rainy ones. Something about fighting a 24" trout on 4 lb test ultralite in a stream that you could walk across that is fun to me anyway.

I usually take my lantern and fish that same hole later Saturday night to catch the Pigs that weren't caught first day. I'll be leaving in about 1 hour. Happy opening day and Wish me luck.

    Good day...:)
    Landed3 bows and 2 browns.
2 horseheads. One slipped from my grasp and drove the trailer fly into my finger, broke the traler line off ,
brought it back to hand and released it. Asked a guy standing below me to pull the string I wrapped around the hook
as I pushed down on the fly. Pop,out it came, with a little flesh on the barb.
Took off this morning with my rain coat on the cp chair.
By 1200 I looked like I fell in and my teeth were chattering a mile a minute.
Went home and threw my close in the dryer and stood by the wood burner.
Threw my dry close on and by then the rain had stopped...so back I go.
The creek now looked like coffee and cream.
Snagged one carp, done at 7.
    Good day.

Dude, that fish is a P-I-G PIG!

That's what I'm talking about...the Trib said it was landed on a Butter worm, size 10hook, 4lb test.
If you don't think that catching that fish in a stream was fun, I don't know what else to say.

I went out, between 5 of us wee got over 100 fish, through all but five back. First cast my buddy caught the biggest fish in the hole, shortly after some young kid caught the pali and everyone left. Apparently if you cant see the fish they arent there? so we had a nice hole to 4 of us, only rained for a few minutes in the morning and started to rain after we left. Good opening day i thought.

umm no, we threw all but 5 of them back, so that means 95 went back in and 5 stayed on the shore

thanks to a new wading jacket stayed dry. Wind wasnt bad we ended up just across the bedford county line from somerset. got 11 released all of em. lost a small golden, lots of laughs and even more beer. Wast at dew drop inn by 11am and made one more stop after a delicious lunch and out of the 4 of us we fished 10 minutes and the rains became unbearable. rivers around johnstown are still a lil high to fish. most likely going out again tuesday morning.

My local creek was still ok until about 11am, only managed three there. Found out later, that the spot I usually fish on opening day only had 8 buckets stocked in a about a 3 mile stretch, due to overstocking accidently at the first 8 stops by FBC, haha !
Went to a local lake after the creek was blown out and did ok there. Managed 13 bows there in the afternoon.Went back out yesterday afternoon in the wind and managed only 1. But all in all with the weather, not a terrible weekend... Good luck and lets hope Mother Nature is good to us this week, I doubt it !

For those in Pittsburgh, they're stocking Miller's run in Washington today at 1:00. Very strange stocking only 2 days after opening day. They will probably get there about 2pm and nobody will be on that stream.

Water will be perfect there today when they stock so if anybody wants to catch 50 of so, Look for the silver 4x4 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab parked right on RT50 and I'll show you the honey hole. I'll be there by 2.
