A steady wind that strong coming from any direction will pick them waves up.

Rule of thumb is 1 foot of wave height for every 5 mph on the main lake. Not that familiar with the bay, but it kicks up pretty quickly as well.

On the bay, it depends on where you fish....even with a 20 moh. S wind...you're pretty well protected at the head of the bay...

A good rule of thumb to fish the bay. As long as the wind is at your back there shouldnt be to much wave action at all.
Ex: west winds will leave no waves action at the head of bay , east winds will have you surfing at the head of bay. Same goes for a north or south winds in relation to the city side and PI side.

How much wind and what direction before we can surf? Will the waves break? Should I use a long board. Is carnuba wax eco-friendly enuff to use in the gr8 lakes?

Southeast today and it was bad. No one on the bay except a wind surfer. Took my boat for a ride around the park. Only place to fish was by the canoe rental in lagoons. Suppose to be worse tomorrow,
