Personal Best

I took my oldest daughter fishing tonight.  She is the girly girly type and fishing is not so much her thing but she agreed to go to spend time with dad.  She caught six and kept the two biggest.  I like to use an indicator when I take the kids so they can see the bite.  I'm pretty sure this trout is her personal best (approx 16" or so).  She was so excited when she brought it to the bank she might even go fishing with me again.  I'm leaving for Erie tomorrow so I hope to have some pictures when I return.  Hope the stream conditions improve for the weekend.  I checked Uncle Johns today and it still looked really high and stained.

    Way to go Ifish!

those trips can make a lifetime of difference for kids, girlie girls, tom boys or boys...
Glad to see you got her out with you for a good trip and even happier to see how good of a time she obviously had.

your are so right Glen. My son is now 42 and my daughter is 37. I miss the day's that they would catch a bluegill and get excited, as if they caught a shark. When you are in your 20's and 30's people tell you how fast life goes by, and you think nothing of it. But one day you realize you have become your Dad and your son has become you. The cycle continues. I am really having fun taking my 10yr. old grandson. 13yr. old Granddaughter would rather text her friends. You younger guy's, enjoy your time with them. When they get into their teens, alot of them would rather go with their friends. At that age, they think they know everything and when they get a little older, they find out your not so stupid after all.

My Wife said, if I go fish'n one more time, she'll leave me! God, I'm going to miss her!

    very nice thread.

good to see females involved in the sport.  my youngest saw a girl looking at fishing stuff at walmart when we went to get him his new rod and reel for the year and he said girls aren't fisherman.  i showed him this thread and now he says well i guess i was wrong lol (this is laugh out loud right?)

he was fishin with the old closed reel, but he wanted a mitchel like his dad so we buckled and got him one.  practiced casting in the yard today.  kid makes me so proud.

re: to both of you, its awesome to see you playing such active roles in getting introduced to the outdoors.  this is truly what its all about.
