5700 CF/s and rising, looks like we will not be able to fish oil until the outing. Maybe the grannoms will show up once this spring. Hopefully this high cold water makes it fish well all summer.

The grannoms will come off but who knows when the trout will get a chance to eat them.

Oil Creek wash fishable on opening day from 8 am until about 9 am.   Hope everybody enjoyed that one hour of fishable high muddy water, because it will remain blown out until mid-May!

So...it appears Sunday, May 15th is the best date to have the picnic.
We usually break for lunch around noon. Please bring a dish.

I would like to suggest to those that are fishing Oil Creek both Saturday AND Sunday
to speak up and maybe meet up with those that can only fish on Saturday.
In class reunion terms, the day before the outing could be called the icebreaker, haha.
This is a great time to meet new fishin' buddies.

I remember last year the water level was around 750cfs in the morning. It dropped some as the day went on.

I wish that was it because i can deal with ****ing her off, just need to take her to a country store and im free to go . but no sadly the american red cross feels lead techs should be just as important as supervisors but without the same pay.

It's a little over 1050 this morning. Hope it keeps dropping; need it to be around 558 to really be good. 500 is better! nice and warm and about 450 would be great for dries. But Dave will come out and catch about 30 on nymphs anyway.

I'm thinking we should reschedule this for July 4th weekend. Oil may be fishable by then.

Missed you guys. Was down there Saturday after checking out the grannom hatch up above on Pine and then Brokenstraw(phenomenal hatch).
Monday had decent water on Oil Creek but the bugs took the day off, except for a short burst of Quill Gordons. Found one little rainbow working the top.
If we get some decent weather the next 2 weeks, there should be a mixed bag of green, tan and black caddis with some little BWO's sprinkled in for the outing.

There is a joke in there somewhere, you know.

The Little J has now been blown out for 10 straight weeks and it is supposed to rain every day except tomorrow and next Monday through next Wednesday.  We got .85 inches last night, so I expect it to climb from its 750 CFS level.

I propose that we all wait until next Friday night to make a decision about
whether to cancel the outing. It's raining (again) right now here in Hermitage, PA Haha!

I'm hoping some of those that fish Oil Creek often(i.e. Dano, Loopy, Al, Egg Sac etc.)can make a
prediction about Oil Creek and the forcasted water levels next Friday May 13th.

We can always re-schedule another outing if we absolutely have to postpone.

This is video of the group from last year's outing:

Levels are currently around 875-900cfs. I may be going up tomorrow afternoon to fish it if levels come down below 700cfs. Wait n-see I guess. Let yinz all know how it went if I go.

Fished it yesterday, lots of fish around. Water was beautiful, few grannoms and bwo's coming off. Saw only a handful of risers.

I concur Paul. Dano and I fished it today at Pet. Center and Millers. Bunches of fish underneath but no surface activity at all. Hate driving down there to nymph it. Feels like I'm steelhead fishing. If the weather holds up it should be a pretty good outing.
