Anyone know if the ice is away from the launch? I was up there last weekend and I'd say 3/4. Was still ice not sure how much is off I'm itching to fish there aside from near the dam any info would be greatly appricated...

Like 3/4 of the water surface was white ice, idk how slushy or thick it was, I don't venture off hard solid land lol I just don't find it kosher...  But ya, i'm hoping like half the lake is open by now with the weather being decent and almost 75 or better today... Hopin for some crappie or even pike or bass (if lucky)

I'm going to head out tomorrow, try for some pike. Just assumed it would be open by now. Last year at this time I caught 3 big perch, 1 hit a 6 inch jointed rapala. How do you fair on crappie there? I do C&R, but there fun to catch! Can't stand cleaning them. Mags, I have yet to catch one there. Last time I was there was early Feb, 12+ inches of ice and frozen slush.

I've caught about a 9" white crappie last year about this time on the first cast with a trout magnet lol...  There wasn't any snow on the ground last week, just a patch here or there in the woods and like 2" at the boat launch where you turn in... Aside from that it was just the ice on the lake, i'm really sad cause my dad is always like "Yup... Cranberry first to freeze first to thaw..."  And here about the weekend before trout went into eairly season stocking I was fishing the spill way and maybe 1/8 of the lake in the back where four mile flows in was thawed and maybe 30 yrds from the dam back at the spillway was open...  And cranberry was froze solid and there were a few guys out on the ice.

Cranberry is wide open now. I only made a few casts as it was windy and cold with no bites.  Did see 5 dead largemouth's either over the spill way or along the breast. All were probably from 16 to 19 inches long.

Did pass a vehicle on the way in that was towing a boat coming from the lake but have no idea if they were actually fishing there.

Water seemed a little cloudier than normal to me.

If it was a Silveraldo with a small camo jon boat it was me. Froze my aZZ off out there yesterday without a bite. Only fished 2.5 hours. Wind was bad. Weeds are double what the were last year at this time. Couldn't make a cast with out snagging some.

I went to Donegal yesterday assuming the wind was gonna be gale force up at there...  It was windy still but then I moved over to Mammoth Park and all in all yesterday was a dozen panfish and 1 stocker rainbow...  Ya, the dead LMB doesn't surprise me, last year this time I was up there and threw like 1 or 2 casts in and nailed a 10-12" Crappie, and my gf was just walking around and spotted about a 18-20" Largemouth carcass right maybe 1' off the spill way concrete that was pretty dead and there for a while but I think that comes from they get washed over and there's nothing to sustain them espically with as cold as the water is and how fast it moves from high/flood to normal right under the spill way.  But 3-5 isn't bad (well it is but) there are so many hogs in that lake... I was there last summer and saw a girl who was no older then 10 fishing with a clicker catch a hog that had to weigh 6-7lbs...  But, as for weeds... That is good... Gotta fish them weedless Texas rigs and them topwaters...
