This is the field I talked about with the corn still standing in a part of it... and posted a photo awhile ago when about a 100 birds were in it..

This gobbler was alone... and just slowly walked away from me across the entire field and into the woods.. I'll see if I can find the pic...

I'm on the main road in this photo and to the right on this picture is a lane going to a camp in the back right corner, which is where I was going to check the guy's camp when I took the gobbler photo...

I have not got that "turkey fever" like many have.. hunted them 1 time years ago and thought it was okay, but when I consider it runs against FISHING season the turkeys lose... easier to go to the local meat market and buy a turkey for me..

I can tell it is special to many and it APPEARS TO BE ALMOST ADDICTIVE FOR MANY..

Nothing like being in the turkey woods at day break. There is something about calling in a gobbler that is like no other. Time spent turkey hunting is much more than killing. Fishing is for Sunday mornings.

Hunting is my passion, fishin takes a back seat during hunting season. You can fish the other 9 months out of the year. Been tryin here and there for them birds over the last 5 years, with little success. Got a hen in fall once. by accident.......LOL
Theres hunters and than there's shooters. Shooters like to hunt, hunters like to shoot. Difference is a shooter wouldnt last an hour Turkey hunting!

Thats the problem with May, not enough days in the month to do it all. Maybe the Pres can get something through Congress to add a few more weeks to the month...WF

It's not how deep you fish...It's how you wiggle your worm.

    Agree with OA
There is nothing like calling Turkey. It is, perhaps, the only game we have where the hunter is so fully involved with TALKING to the prey in an effort to  complete the hunt. It is fully engrossing.
Antler rattling and grunt calling is no comparison whatsoever to the sometimes hours long "working" of a Tom.
I find myself leaving the woods on many occasions after the morning Gobble as simply waiting them out looses its allure. Yes they may return and gobble after the 'morning hookup' but that first 'off the tree' clucking and working is absolutely uncompareable.

Hows that Tweety bird hunting down there- might just get an out of state liscence and try to fill a sack. Who knows might even see a trophy skunk or Weasel while I'm at it. Not to mention a full grown mean Opossum- heard they actually charge when upset.

As usual OA cuts through to the real deal-have tried all those other calls over time, don't even carry them anymore -the most consistent evening responses come from real hard, loud and long cackle on a box call. They will answer it in the fall too.
