Ohio,

Where were you before I wasted 4 years of tuition and thousands on tools and supplies. I should have just bought a canoe, and would be the next Wendell Castle instead drawing lines on a computer all day long...

This is the kayak i use for fishing Freedom Hawk 12 the pontoons come into the sides and you have a reg. kayak, great for standing and fishing. Great storage in kayak and pontoons. Pontoons come off for easy transport on roof or in truck bed.

Ohio- You are a rhetoritician. You like to insult and make up lies that you may believe. This makes you a joke. You obviously have some unreasonable hatred of me and probably yourself. You remind me of political commentators that may share a very good point but then act like an idiot and hide whatever fruitful comment they had to share.

Rustic- I have respect for you. We had a exchange of ideas as adults should. We both shared negatives and positives which I hope help others in their canoe/kayak decision. Thumbs up.

Riz- Thanks man

Me- I am thankful for the kayak as it opened the world of musky fishing up to me beyond the trips I take with friends when a spot on the boat is available. Still will fish for anything and everything but the muskies got their teeth in me and the kayak keeps me on the water. Amen!

You almost got me RIZ, but once again someone is confused on this forum. I am condescending, not "condensinding". Much like learning to paddle, your focus wandered astray during fourth grade spelling class. Although I am a demanding teacher, I am also a benevolent one. In the future I promise to keep my posts under five lines so that your bowling ball sharp intellect doesn't fatigue under the stress. In the meantime, why don't you try sticking to one and two syllable words.

You obviously didn't read my posts, champ. I have a canoe and a kayak. I've run dozens of rivers all over the country, including a lot of upper-limit stuff in an open canoe or kayak. I stand all the time in moving water. In fact, I rarely sit down. If you took the time to progress past paddling for little tots, you might understand why a canoe would be chosen by 99% of advanced paddlers for fishing and most other applications. The reason you see an increasing number of kayaks is because they cost $200 at D.ic.ks and any post-Outward Bound eco-schmoe can strap it to the top of their Prius and paddle around a little duck pond with their fly rod. But hey, if you want to jazzercize your way around a little frog pond, be my guest.

Interesting that you stand all the time in moving waters. People were beginning to believe you! haha

"chosen by 99% of advanced paddlers for fishing"? Kindly cite your sources for that please.

"any post-Outward Bound eco-schmoe can strap it to the top of their Prius and paddle around a little duck pond with their fly rod." More smoke?

It appears you're best at blowing smoke!

Fishing solo...kayak all day...they are designed for a single paddler and are easily rigged for rod holders, water tight storage space (find that on a canoe), easier to paddle (try paddling a canoe solo...major pita)...more comfortable seat...I could go on.....if you intend to fish with more than one person on the vessel then you would have to chose a canoe. Otherwise a kayak whether it be SOT or Sit in is better any day. Thats my opinion....and imanOhioBoy picking over someone's posts for typos/ grammatical errors on a message board to belittle them is just prepubescent. There...I can use big words too. May your fourth post never occur or at least be somewhat constructive. FYI I have a Wilderness Systems Tarpon 140 Angler with a foot pedal rudder and it is cat's azz.

I've decided to try some of your posting tactics ImanOhioBoy

I'm a little confused about where and how long your canoe trips where. Anyone who has paddled in a boat more than two miles can quickly pick up the pry, not to mention the j-stroke, and northwoods stroke to name a few. None of these strokes involve switching sides until your arms get tired (some of us faster than others). Needless to say, your tripping experience is suspect!

Its a kayak post, not an Iron Butterfly acid concert.. The term is dripping, not tripping. NTM I've paddled way further than 2 miles in both a canoe and a kayak, have no idea what a pry, j-stroke, and a northwoods is, and don't give a rats azz because its a no brainer that a kayak paddle doesn't involve switching from one side to the other thus no DRIPS in the boat. I could be tripping and still figure that one out...

In reference to the Cowboy's comments about standing and casting I must say I agree. I don't understand how anyone who has held a cane pole for more than five minutes thinks they can be just as effective at covering, and more importantly reading, the water from a sitting potion at water level. Even from a sitting position you are much better off from a canoe.

If you are sitting in a canoe or sitting in a kayak, wtf is the difference? How can a canoe be "much better" than a kayak? In my experience reading water from my SOT Tarpon is much easier than any canoe I've ever been in from a sitting position. If you've been in a canoe that is somehow "much better" than a SOT kayak I'd like to know the make and model.

Bublegum man, you are stretching here my friend. That buble is going to pop, and you are going to have gum stuck in your hair.

An absolutely horrible analogy, and its spelled Bubblegum with 2 b's....bubble is also spelled with 2 b's....apparently two syllable words are a problem for you as well. Feel free to pick over my posts and reply as you will to reveal yourself as the feminine hygiene bag that you are......

water tight storage space (find that on a canoe),

Its called a dry bag or a Pelican case. I have several of both. They come in all sizes and beat the he11 out of a cofee can-sized hole with a little rubber top that is marginally water tight.

Um..yes...and those aren't canoe specific, they can be used on kayaks as well so I can't see the validity of that statement. The locking hatches on my tarpon are pretty **** water tight, and I can guarantee that anything inside the hatches isn't going to float away or sink in the event of a capsize. Dry bags on a canoe have to be strapped down, and if you do turtle it, you aren't just flipping the boat back over and continuing on your way. Seriously Cowboy different strokes for different folks, you like your canoe, if I had the choice to float in one or the other I'd take the yak. The ONLY reason I posted here was due to Ohio's argumentative nit picking over grammar and spelling to attack somebody else. His 3 posts have been BS and so I posted my opinion, and then just tried to give him a little of his own medicine, in defense of Bubblegum who was just offering advice to pwk who specifically started the thread asking about kayaks....no mention of wanting a canoe in the first place.

Do you want to float the New River or Cacapon for smallmouths sometime? I'll stand and fish from my canoe, you can sit in your kayak. We'll compare notes at the end.
