call me crazy but I have no idea where the tailraces are....when I fish the rivers it's been in just about the same spot my whole life....anyone care to share where they are?  I'm not asking for your honey hole (just in case that crazy guy from the 70's reads this post).

Just a heads up before you all make the trip. This time of year high flows on the Casselman can back water up and stop the Yough in it's tracks regardless of Dam release levels.Best to monitor the Casselman and LH as well as the Dam.

Never caught a trout there ever... Spring/summer/winter/fall, i've tried single egg, sacs, crawlers, maggots, waxies, grubs, spinners, spoons and nothing worked... Threw on a Joe fly and slammed nice rock bass and a few smallies, and caught a decent brown bullhead by the powerplant.  But aside from that I can't figgure out the trout. =(

gander mtn sells single eggs and egg sacks that look very similar to those that you can get in erie bait shops. Also gander sells egg sack building kits....so why would the fish man be checking where you get your eggs from?

I don't know of which brands you speak but I'm sure if they are manufacutered/cured within the Great Lakes region, they are VHS certified free.

    http://www.fishandboat.com/pafish/all/vhs/fact_sheet_vhs.pdf

    Read "Pennsylvania Regulatory Actions".

    Here is another...
    http://www.fish.state.pa.us/fishpub/summary/lakeerie.html#vhs

"It is unlawful to transport or cause the transportation of VHS-susceptible species of fish out of the portion of the Lake Erie Watershed in this Commonwealth into other watersheds of this Commonwealth except when certain conditions are met. It is illegal to use VHS-susceptible fish species, fish parts and eggs taken from the Lake Erie Watershed as fishbait in Commonwealth waters outside the Lake Erie Watershed except when the fish are certified as VHS-negative. It is legal to transport dead recreationally caught fish out of the Lake Erie Watershed solely for the purpose of human consumption."

    Hope that answers your question.

Tull, call me stupid but for some reason i didnt even ride accross the dam, im guessing it must be very high for the time of year for them to blow that much water out knowing that everything below them is already flooded??

I could be mistaken but doesnt that include the ones poor richard sells?

in the gander mtn in johnstown in the bait fridge there is single egg and egg sacks not sure the manufacture but it isnt the same as the ones that the shrimp eggs come in.

all im asking is how can one prove where they came from, if the fish cop wants to be a jerk about it then they can say the ones from gander are illegal.

You'd have to ask PR's if their eggs are certified VHS-free.

It would be up to you to prove that they are VHS free.  Carry a receipt.
