Rust in muzzleloader

I have a CVA kodiak mag. with a nickle barrel.  There is a fair amount of rust in the barrel.  What would be the best method to get rid of the rust?  And would it be best if I remove the barrel or not?

Thanks in advance.

Use a wire brush and some wd-40. Then swab with a bore cleaner then swab with bore butter. You do not have to remove it if it is a cap.

Thanks for the reply.  That barrel is clean as a whistle now.  Thanks again.

Buy those silicon gun socks that fit over the whole gun, they are great for the prevention of rust. I used to have to oil the guns 3 times a yr, not anymore once a yr.
