Wind Turbines

Feb 13, 2011 - 10:40PM QuoteReply Wind Turbine Development Halted in Canada

Following is a PARTIAL news report that came in pertaining to Wind Turbine Development being halted in Canada by the Canadian Government for at least three years for more studies. The whole news realease is on Outdoors Niagara if you would be interested in learning more. [And you should be] Eventually this could affect ALL of us. So pay attention!
GO HERE FOR MORE AND LEARN!: http://www.outdoorsniagara.com/windmills.htm

"Sherri Lange, Founding Director of Toronto Wind Action and Executive Director, Canada, Great Lakes Wind Truth, today expressed her group’s excitement about the turnaround decision by the Province to halt offshore turbine development. The potential dangers posed by wind turbines are finally being recognized and she praised the Province for listening and indicating that full scientific studies would be conducted first."..................

"But while this represents a reprieve for communities across the Canadian side of the Great Lakes, “We have studies in hand that attest to the evidence that huge industrial turbines are horrifically expensive, subsidized out of hydro customers’ pockets to a multiple of FOUR times, and create environmental havoc,” Lange said. “In short, they don’t belong anywhere.”...............

The release goes on to say; "It has been documented that people have left their homes, or been bought out by developers, and have recorded unacceptable levels of stress and sleep deprivation, dizziness and a host of other ailments, loss of property values, and community disruption"...............

Learn as much about these things and be aware of these things as much as you can. It's for your future and the future of your kids and their kids. You can be a tree hugger if you want and probably some of you are but it's because you are a follower, and that's my opinion, but your children's future is at stake. Listen to what others have to say and be open minded.

Lake Erie and Lake Ontario residents are horrified by this "green pipe dream" and you should be too.

I'll sign my name;

    Huh?

Green enviro. wackos shooting down green enviro. ideas?  Who'd a thunk it?

Putting wind turbines out in the lake is probably the best, most unobtrusive place for them (if that is where they were putting them).  They are trying to get something similar started up off the gulf coast.  It would be a boon for the fisheries as well as the electric producers down there because snapper/grouper and other valuable reef fish love structure and the GOM is highly lacking that nearshore.

So what is their beef with wind farms up there in Canadia?  those crazy canucks...

I would suggest that maybe, just maybe they figured out that 1) so-called green energy sources like wind turbines have huge carbon footprints and 2) aren't self-sufficient and are heavily subsidized and 3) many such suppliers contract for guaranteed levels of supply and therefore shore up any deficiencies in production by using power supplied by coal fired power plants

Let's face it-no amount of wind solar or nuclear energy can sustain and grow the global economy as we know it. Can this kind of energy fuel our airlines? No. Our military? No. Our farms? No. If every other vehicle on earth went electric where would that power come from? Certainly not wind farms.

We are at a tipping point.

    Sorry for the rant...I'm out.

Wind Turbines are to help take the strain off the grid, they are not intended as the replacement

Nuclear is the clear winner for electrical generation but no politican will dare to bring it full-scale due to Sierra Club and other wacko groups and terrorism, eventhough France turns a profit by selling extra engery to neighboring countries and re-processing the spent fuelrods which reduces the amount of waste that needs stored and treated

From a good source, maintenance ,alone, is more costly then the electricity they produce..WF

Ground has already been broken for 4 new nuclear units in the US, 2 in GA and 2 in SC, 2016 is anticipated online date if the operating licensing goes as planned. There were some issues with guaranteed loan funding from the government which is why some of the other companies pulled their initial applications.

The worst thing about the windmills in the lakes are maintenance costs associated with getting there and performing the work, getting there in the winter even harder. They are also an eyesore, and as far as the structure comment that may be true but they will be no boating zones if they are put up in the great lakes. Check out the great lakes wind truth on facebook gives you some facts on wind energy.
