Cant wait for open water fishing again. Although Im getting some things accomplished around the house this winter I need to cast something a mile into some open water. Grip it and flick it!!! I know Slick is "down" , anyone else ready???
I know cabin fever sucks and I can go fishing any given day,but springtime always makes me excited to get out and get into some serious fishing again. Im ready for spring!!! Anyone else ready??

I'm with you on this one, Deetz. This has been the worst winter
since I moved back here in 2003. I haven't even gotten my new
license yet. Figures that the best summer in memory (and for me, that's a lot of summers) is followed by one of the worst winters
ever.
This has been one of the mildest winters as the season goes. We are still 6 inches of snow below normal. Now of course the cold part is still there, so yeah, it's still a bad winter regardless.
I don't mind the snow, it's the sub freezing temps. Hard to fish with the line freezing. Seems like most winters previous it would warm up at least above freezing a few times each week. Not this one.

we still need 1 more month of winter 9 rods to build & at least another 1500 flies to ad to my boxes before the BWO'S start in march & I pretty much move to camp for a while

Guys, where I have been fishing(and catching) when your line or rod starts freezing(about every 3rd cast) up you just dunk it in the water. Winter solitude at its best! All the female walleyes are loaded with eggs. Even the carp are biting. Caught 2 last night on jigs! And by the way we got 1 inch of snow. All the schools are closed!!! COLD=NO FISHERMAN

Ice, Ice Baby... It looks like we will be getting a mix of freezing rain, ice and snow.... The snow I can handle, but ice is another story. Let's hope for the best.

It won't be long. Some creeks will have them in Feb.
Saw plenty of midges on the water the past 3 days.
I've been thinking of planning some kind of get together some weekend in the next couple of weeks, depending on how much interest there is from you guys.

But those look like store bought pierogi.  Perch looks great tho. If you want recipe for REAL pierogi, I'll pm it to you. I made about 6 dozen for Christmas, just finished off the last few last week. I prefer them pan fried, so the dough has just a touch of gold to it, and a little crispness. Also, try pan frying with onions.

After the day today starting off with freezing rain and then progressing to sleet and hail. I was glad to see the snow but was not happy that it was flying sideways. Some days ya just cant win. Thanks Phil for reminding us that winter is not over no matter what he sees or may not see. Spring never comes around till May anyways. The Deetz
