It could be done in a location that doesn't have heavy wading traffic, too many variables, Korkers, Flow ice, heavy current, punctured cables.....

It is cool.I'll probably check it at least once a day. Underwater would really be something. Camera in a box, cables run through conduit- would be a logistics nightmare every time something went wrong.Good job, thanks. Will throw you a couple of bucks as soon as I can.(got to get a new rod first)

That sight brings back memories to valentine weekend of 92. Fished all weekend with a few hookups. Our last day which was a sunday was a good thaw day where ice was braking away from the banks of the TOWN pool. We fished it for around 3 hours with no luck. Just before pack it in time I went to the tail of the pool just upstream from the rapids. While I was throwig my first cast a fish broke water. Instan hook up... my father and the 2 others we were with came right down and for around 3 hours we had every cast action on big dark males. All on black estaz patterns. Remeber this was in 1992. Needless to say, on our way out late that day we stopped at whitakers (jim rusher's) to buy some black estaz to tie some more flies for next trip and they were sold out. Another point of observation was the thousands of black flies crawling around on the balmy snow banks...hint hint...

    Welcome aboard jcy...

Come October the web cam will be like watching America's funniest home videos with all the lifters there. Maybe if it's monitored we'll see something real good and win the money then we can have these at the major holes. Great idea it will be nice to be able to go there and see what's going on.

There was a camera mounted in a tree overlooking the Unemployment Hole in Altmar which was operated by an area guide.

Not sure if it still works.

I would like to see a camera mounted to a mudhark as it fights it's way upstream mid-October.

With all the lines in the water, it would be interesting - sort of like dropping a camera in a pot of boiling spagetti....

are you referring to traditional trout fishing salmo???? if so, in feb and march when fishing these hatches, do you ever get some surface action, or mostly small emergers???

If you were watching the pool on Friday around 4 PM  you would have seen a guy fishing at the downstream end of the wall. I drove over the bridge and saw a guy standing out there on what I believe to be shelf ice. Unless its changed a real lot since the flood that guy was NUTS. He looked to be about 4 or 5 feet out from the bank about a yard below the wall on ice. The water was only  a couple of feet in front of him.

Yeah- Trouts. Small Stone fly dries in the afternoon mid feb till mid March. Little Olives too some places.
I fish the top when possible. Pick a sunny afternoon & watch for rises. Some of my best days fishing are on those little black stone fly dries. They are clumsy fliers.

Maybe we can have a "sneaky cam" and move it around to different spots during the shark season. After the season we could all vote on the worst most unsportsmanlike episode.

You should start seeing them in stair case and above today.its interesting to see this flow release. .there is absolutely no run off at all. They must be getting the rezervoirlevel down before this upcoming rain event. If I knew the person in control of those flood gates id give him a pat on the back..its definitely too early for a major flood. im up next weekend and can't wait. Im fine if the water stabilizes anywhere from 900 to 1800...

I have been watching the web cam now for two or three weeks, hopeing to see if someone is catching any thing. For the most part all I see is two or three guys fishing and not getting anything. Yesterday was the most excitement that I've seen, when there was a guy fishing down by the point and looked up stream and ran to get a net and headed up stream and out of the picture, only to return less than min. later with his head down. Must be his bubby was fishing up stream and lost one or it was just a small one. Has anyone seen a fish caught here on the web?

A guy was locked one of the times I drove over the bridge yesterday.I don't fish there---but I believe most of the fish are done near the tail out(which I believe would be out of the camera's eye).

Steel on a pin---so easy a caveman can do it.

Im sure that in the next few weeks with the warmer weather and water you will see more anglers and more fish caught as the dropback action heats up. Anglers are in and out of view from time to time all day long, but who can watch for that long............
