Walnut is locked up from Manchester hole all the way to the horizon. One man fishing on the marina.

Trout Run the same. It is not thick enough to fish yet, mostly pack ice and I saw a man go through it yesterday while he was testing it. Just above his knees, and he was wearing neoprenes.

Lots of guys in the marina. Ice is good. didn't see any fish caught but I wasn't rigged for steelhead. Just came off the penninsula and nobody is there and the bait stand is closed. Maybe because of the 3 freighters?

is it worth the drive up or no?

Not yet. The bay will be busted by inbound freighters on Sunday. There is still just pack ice at the mouths. Nothing I would walk on myself. You can always PM me or maybe give Poor Richards a call.

How far do you have to drive up?

BTW. Welcome to the board. If you want to PM back and forth you need to enable the PM function in your settings.

Good ice at Walnut even in the creek. Lots of guys. About 6 inches in the basin. Most of the guys were in the creek. Trout Run had quite a frew guys, ice varies but there were lost of guys there. As of a week ago there were guys at the mouth of Elk Creek. Didn't fish it though.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no.  Yesterday morning was a skunk for most, including myself.  Why?  I have my theories other than the painfully obvious no bite.  Of the 20 people at Walnut at 8:00 Sat morning, only 3 were still there by 9:30.  I saw a few steelhead looking at my minnow under the ice and they were very skittish.  I chalk it up to a lot of stomping around up top.  When all that separates you is 6" of ice and 3 feet of crystal clear water, I gotta think it sounds like a thunderstorm to the fish.  I could see my line so I know it was visible to the fish.  Gonna respool with something more fitting to the conditions.
