i went yesterday in the morning. i got 1 bite as soon as my lure hit bottom and that was it. i stayed for about an hour and a half. i talked to a nice older fella who said he's been doin good in late morning. but i was too chilled to take the wind much longer. so i stopped by acme and caught gills on the way home.
this really looks like the last week on the ice. i'm gettin antsy to get my first carp of the year and try this walleye fishin thing. if any of you walleye fisherman out there want to trade a day of carp learnin\fishin for a day of walleye knowledge. or if you just want to do some carp/cat fishin. hit me up with a PM.

Was at Greenlick for a couple of hours this afternoon just talking to guys. Two groups fishing total 5 people but I didn't see anything caught. The two guys I was talking to were using large chubs for bigger fish but no takers. Several other people just milling around talking to the fisherman.

I fished the Yough for a while at Connellsville - water a little high and dirty and had a lot of partially decayed leaves that inhibited any type of realistic fishing opportuities. Had the river to myself except for the geese.

A lot of open water all around GL but still too much ice for any type of comfortable fishing except for the back water where the creek comes in there is a lot of open water, in fact more than enough to start fishing for crappie. A lot of edge ice around the lake is to thin to walk on and too thick to throw through. Water is up about 8-10 above normal which should cause a rapid melt down. The Bridgeport Dam is very high with almost all of the "fingers" near covered. Had about a hundred geese out there this morning. Jacobs Creek is running high and wild both above and below the dam.

Drove into the boat ramp closest to the dam last night around 5AM on my way home from a coyote all-nighter.  I didn't see any open water from the launch.
